A complete knee replacement prompted this piece.
I give thanks to God for caring hands
For surgeons in the theatre
Anaesthetists that dull the pain
The cutting art made neater.
Everyone there has a part
And all are so important
Cleaning floors as much an art
As stitching up the patient.
Meals are highlights in the day
The seasoning could be better
Nurses and needles, dressinga and beds
Skills that have been well taught
The walk to the theatre is what I remember
Flashbacks no need to recall
The 5th of September is now past and gone
Each day tells the story of others
Who pass through these doors
And are cared for by the band
For which I give thanks
The band of Caring Hands.

This is a nice tribute to all those working in the health field. Too often we take them for granted, at least I think we do in Canada, as it costs us nothing to stay in the hospital, go to the Emergency Ward, or book a visit with our doctor. It all seems so easy and normal and we forget that there are many working hard to keep us healthy.
Well done!
