Christmas for me is a loving family,
It’s knowing that people care.
Christmas is seeing people smile,
And knowing they will always be there.
It’s snuggling up with a hot chocolate while the snow tumbles outside,
It’s seeing the decorations sparkle in the darkness of the night.
It’s the smell of pine, turkey and spice drifting through the air,
It’s seeing your face on Christmas day during the first morning light.
Christmas for me is a loving family,
It’s knowing that people care.
Christmas is seeing people smile,
And knowing they will always be there.
Its sitting around the Christmas tree while you turn on the lights,
It’s every one helping to put the decorations up, working together is nice.
It’s doing the Christmas countdown, a tradition that is just ours,
It’s singing songs, playing games and generally having a laugh.
Christmas for me is a loving family,
It’s knowing that people care.
Christmas is seeing people smile,
And knowing they will always be there.
It’s hearing my little girls laughter, a joy I will never forget,
Its seeing their precious faces as they open up their gifts.
It’s watching all that excitement through their little eyes,
Its listening to their delighted giggles as they dance around on the ice.
Christmas for me is a loving family,
It’s knowing that people care.
Christmas is seeing people smile,
And knowing they will always be there.
It’s being in your strong, safe arms, while gazing into your eyes,
It’s sharing everything I have with you even the last mince pie.
It’s a feeling in my heart so special, loving, warm and true,
It’s a feeling that’s kept throughout the year whenever I look at you.

Ah, Christmas... the most anticipated holiday of the year for countless people. In an era of rampant commercialization and rampant spending, the true meaning of the season has been lost among all the television advertisements and sales pitches. It is a time to be with friends and family and enjoy their company. It is also a time to be with relatives who you may (or may not) have seen months ago. But most importantly, it is a time to take stock and be thankful for everything you have in life (health, friends, family, etc.) I learned that this past Christmas, after my father left my mother and went to be with another woman.
It was not easy, but my mother and I made it. For a first Christmas without my father, it was not too bad, but that is another story for another day. The true value of Christmas cannot be tallied in dollars, but in what you have as a family... and you have communicated that moral well. Good job!
