*I did this for a religion report, but yeah I felt like putting it on here, too.*
Abuse comes in many forms, and some of them seem to be easily missed. Physical abuse makes itself known by bruises and broken bones; and verbal abuse tries to hide itself inside the victim, but to no avail because of the victims’ actions.
The kind of abuse most people let pass, however, is the kind some show to the Lord. It seems everything bad that happens, they blame it on the Lord. It’s not like it’s even His fault, sure, He’s the one who gave us free will to do stuff like this, but that’s not what He intended for us to do with our choices. He didn’t create evil, either.
All the Lord has ever done for us is shown us love, and what does He get back? Closed doors to show that nobody’s listening. They lock the doors against Him, but to all the evil in the world the door stands open. Many people claim to be Christian, but if you look closer, you never see them pray.
And so, if the Lord shows us love, and all He gets back in return is turned backs, well, how would it make you feel if you were in that situation? Personally, I’d feel heartbroken, but our Lord (thankfully) is ever giving, and gives everyone an equal chance to do what we think is right. If we have doubt and don’t know where to go, He leads us in the right direction.
'One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
'Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, the other belonging to the Lord.
'When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
'He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.
'He noticed it happened at the very lowest and saddest tines in his life.
'This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it:
'“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.”
'The Lord replied:
'“My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”'
- Mary Stevenson
So you see, no matter how much we turn our backs on the Lord, He never seems to leave us. That is what’s called unconditional love. And it’s really great, that He has the patience and time and give all that love to all these people. However, you’d still think that it’d hurt a lot to have all those people who you love turn your back on you.
The Lord never leaves you, no matter what, and He always gives you a chance to repent. However, if you haven’t done so yet, I suggest you do, for the time is coming fast.
