What You Hear
by Jessica P. (Age: 15)
copyright 12-27-2006

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Depression ‘runs in families’
To fight it, ‘take these pills’
Get prescriptions
So your emotions will not spill

Money and big houses will make you ‘happy’
But to pay it off get two jobs
You’ll have to work all day
By the end your head will throb.

Racism is to be cast aside
‘They don’t care, anyway’
How’d you feel
If someone called you a castaway?

Dreams aren’t real,
And they can’t come true
See, but listen to these words
What you hear might make you new.

Depression is not real
And I don’t believe in it
To be depressed is just a saying
To be happy – you shouldn’t quit.

Money and big houses
Just will not make you happy
You don’t need them to survive
And they’ll make your mood all crappy.

Racism is a huge, big deal
And people are so blind
They see different coloured faces and think
‘They’re different, why should I be kind?’

And yes, a dream is only fiction
But when someone makes one come true
Fictionality is no more, but
A different reality is anew.

More words of wisdom from a great person that I like to call my friend. This is a great write Jess. You have a good outlook on life and you will go far. Keep expressing your thought in print, for I'm sure they will help all those who read them.

Ah, truth revealed.
The beat is a bit off, though...
Love the use of quotes

P.S. Love your logic.

This is so true. It bugs me at how much crap is on the news now. Depression might be the worst thing out now. People are dieing off the walls by taking the pills. Most of them kill themselves. Greed is a big one too. Again people kill just to get all of the this stuff, like money. Then racism, they killed others from the opinions others had. If you think about it, most of them end up with killing. That's sad. Talk to you later.
