I use to misspell words just to get David worked up! This is cute and very true. I can't talk much though because the spell checker was put here because Robert hated all my comments with misspelled words. Now you all don't see as many, unless I forget to use spell check!
Very good, Brian! I only hope those that really need to read this, do so. Poor spelling and grammar can truly ruin a brilliant piece of writing. I like to think that I am a decent speller, but knowing that I am human, and that every human makes mistakes, I always try to remember that wonderful tool, the spell checker!
I made a terrible mistake before I started reading this work. I didn't read the dedication. If I had, I would have known I was going to enter a very extraordinary place. That place, of course, being your sense of humor but, at the same time, not so humorous world of the writer and even the reader who has to deal with the mechanics of our language. I couldn't help but burst out laughing. Something one of my bearing and formality never does. That alone was high praise for this truly ridiculous, but not so ridiculous, writing. It is terribly disturbing, however, that my hands and even my mind have been "tied up" the way you wanted them to be. What is there for me to critique? How can I compliment a work that is so grossly filled with errors, even though intentional? But, equally, can I compliment a work that is deliberately filled with nothing but those things? Thank you for showing us truly silly we can be and, at the same time, how serious we must be. ^_~
My head felt like it was slowly going to spin while reading this. Just...it kept tilting to the side, back tracking, having to read through it and forcing myself not to cringe at the spelling...by the time it finished, I thought my ear would touch my belly button it was so far crooked LOL!
This is hilarious, and proof of how flippin stupid a good work can look when spelled bad. This is an amazing flow and rythm and -everything- once you get past the blatent mispellings...and I'm not even that good when it comes to spelling or grammar (my current g/f and I currently have to backtrack on our conversations in messenger, because she's a stickler for grammar and gets confused when I use the wrong version of "plain/plane" or "sense/since" in a conversation lol).
I loved this work. It really, really made me laugh.
Nice message you have here... it seems Mehrina B. and myself are not the only ones concerned with spelling. You must have went through rigorous spelling drills back in your school years, much like I did back in middle and high school. I happen to be one of those people gifted with a memory for words and spelling, but almost anyone can grasp and use good spelling provided they are willing to learn and put in effort. Enough about me... you did well with this work. Everything about it is rife with greatness.
For starters, your intentional misspellings add an element of humor to what some would consider a big issue. You also make good use of the reasoning an overconfident writer with bad spelling would use: "No matter if my spelling is terrible, my work will live forever!" That may be the case, but it may be remembered in a less than positive way... IF people can stand reading it to start with! You also show a firm grasp of the structure and style of poetry... since I am not a master myself, there is no room for me to lecture you on that! To sum it up: great job!
Thank You,
This is very inspirational, but I probaly will spell check anyway ;). Spelling is my worst subject. I love the poem, I hope you keep on writing! I will read many more of your works in the futer. :) Keep on writing!
I love this, Brian. I, like you, hate works with poor spelling. There are so many spell-check programs (programmes) these days, so there is no excuse for poor spelling.
I hope everyone at P-n-P reads and listens to what you have to say.
