Shadows, Light, and Fog
by Chessie Hodge (Age: 18)
copyright 08-15-2007

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Cold, empty street… Walking in the dimly lit night, tears stream down your face. The lights flickering and finally going out all around you. Yet there remains one… Can’t let it go… Running toward it, your heart beating so fast against your chest, your head swimming in darkness… Stumbling almost blind toward the single light... The world seems to swirl and fall as you reach out… The rain slowly drips down in great drops from the blackened sky… Grabbing your hand, I pull you into me. I hold you tight as you bury your head in my chest and allow your sadness to pour out.

“Shhhhh… I’m here…” I whisper, like you had so many times before… Standing in forever… “I love you…” …. “I love you too…” And the rain bursts free from the clouds as the lights on the street begin to glow ever so slightly. They show us the way home. Together, hearts pounding against our rib cages in unison, our breath matched, our feet in step, hands linked, we tear into the darkness before us…

“Open your eyes, love.” I murmur… “We made it…” Everything so still… I kiss your soft lips as we lay wrapped in each other… The sheets cool yet warm… Fog outside… Time stops… Drifting in to the sweetest dreams, perfect serenity descends… The lights on the street fade out again, leaving only the gentlest of shadows…

How sweet! Oh...I love romance! Although, I think it's for books, not for real life, I just love to read it! Dramatized love is a little too much for me, though, but this one caught my attention. Nice one, keep writing.
