Holding Hands
by Leigh G. (Age: 14)
copyright 01-18-2007

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Take my hand, I'll pull you from the darkness
If you're afraid,
I'll fight away all your fears with my blood-stained katana
If you cry,
I'll do my best to wipe away your tears
If you need help,
I do my best to help you
I'm not very good,
At saying how I feel
Yet it seems so easy...
When I want to protect my best friend
I'm better at fighting away fears
Than wiping away tears
But I'll do my best
To be more than what I've made myself
I'll hold your hand when you need me
I'll do my best to make you smile
Because nothing is more precious
Than transcending happiness
I want to protect you, shield you away from the world
I said these words before...but did they reach you?
I had my time of weakness...
Did you hear me call your name?
I'm done with that now
It's time I draw my sword from its scabbard again
And rise to protect those I love
To you, my best friend, I'll fight with my most fierce adrenaline
I'll fight to my last breath and beyond
Just to keep you safe
This an ode to you, my best friend
Forgive my poor form...I wrote this on the spur-of-the-moment from my heart!
I know it's unprofessional,
And there's going to be too many places that'll make you say,
"Once an error, always an error!"
I draw my sword
Ready to regain my post
I'll do whatever it takes
To keep this fate as it is
I'll take the pain, I'll do whatever I can to make you smile
This poem is for you,
Mehrina
Let's walk through the darkness
Let's make it to the light
Let's walk across the "opal bridge"
Hand in hand

Wow... Amazing! I love it, it reminds me of a poem I wrote for my best friend Ami(okay, I just call her Ami, it's not her real name). I'm just... speechless, it's amazing, I'm at a loss for words. Great work!

This was a very good piece by you, obviously since it is a 5 praise. I kind of thought it sounded like a song from Evanescence and that that was kind of unoriginal. It is nice that you would write a poem to people, I know my friends never would. I didn't see any errors, then again you probably proofread cuzzilions of times before submiting. This wasn't one of my favorites by you, I don't know why it just didn't grasp my attention as much as some of your otherwork. All in all a very good piece just not your best.

*Solemn salute*

Aye, mon amis. A vow to be there for each other forever. And one day when one of us in trouble, we'd know the one person we can always trust. My eternal thanks for being such a friend, the best friend I've ever known.

This poem was far from unprofessional. A true poem comes straight from the heart. You're a better writer than any old Mark Twain or Lord Byron. *I've always disliked Mark Twain anyway*
I thank you for your friendship. It's the one thing I know I can depend on.

We laugh and cry together
Because we are friends forever!

Your BFFE!
