My Own World Side Crisis---part 4
by Alma H. (Age: 15)

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I can't believe I got all that stuff. I can't believe Denis paid for all of it.
"Thank you for paying for everything. I tried to pay for something but then you already had your wallet out."
"It's fine, you're my niece. A few more times with the way you shop and you will be paying on your own." We both chuckled. It was true.
"You bet it's true." Jeff snuck into the car before we drove off.
'Shut up.'
"Sure." He just sat back and crossed his arms. Before I knew it, we were already back at the house. I waited for Denis to turn the car off before I hopped out and got my stuff from the trunk. A heard a 'pop' and then I walked out. Jeff was right behind me. I closed the door and threw myself at the trunk. I grabbed everything that was mine and Denis grabbed his. I ran to the front door. I wanted to try my stuff on again with the full body mirror in my room. Denis unlocked the door just as quick as I ran. I flew past the door and up the stairs.
"Careful, there!" Denis was behind me on the stairs.
"I'm at the top already anyway." I smiled and turned around. I put the bags on the bed and went back to close the door.
"All of these names I've always wanted. Pierre, Chloe, and more of London's finest. I can't wait to feel the clothe on my skin again."
"Whoa, slow down there, material girl. You just got home. Don't you think your feet want to kill you?" I thought about it. That's when it hit me.
"Ow, they really do want to kill me." I sat on the bed, kicking my heels off. I saw my feet, they needed some treatment and quick.
"You should have stayed with your flats. He told you that you were going sight-seeing." He looked at my feet. Then he pulled a chair over to the bed and sat there.
"Give me your feet." I looked at him like he was finally lost.
"I'm not lost, let me see your feet." I did as he said and put my feet over to him. He started rubbing them.
"I'm massaging them, there's a difference." I just laid back and was in heaven. I don't think I have ever had this much goodness going to my feet. My cell phone started to ring. My purse was still next to me so I just opened it and answered.
"Hello?"
"I can't believe you didn't call me before you got on the plane." It was Salli.
"Chloe already beat you to that line."
"She beats me in everything." That's true.
"How are you, by the way?"
"I should be asking you that."
"Nothing much. I went power shopping with my uncle, sat on the wrong side of the car, met Chad Murry and Elisha Wood on the plane, and they want to see me again. I also got bad feet from shopping in heels."
"How many times do we have to tell you not to shop in heels?" She is as blond as I thought.
"OH MY GOD!!!!"
"I was wondering when you were gonna say something."
"What was it like to meet them, and talk to them?"
"Chloe beat you to that too."
"I know."
"We held hands for a little, talked. I helped them not get writers cramp from too many autographs."
"You held their HANDS?" People on Mars could hear her.
"Salli, I think people from Mars heard you that time. Not saying they can always hear you."
"Shut up. I don't tell you how to live your life."
"Yet, you need my help for you to live your's."
"Anyway, you held their hands?"
"I didn't stutter. I had to pull them to the plane before they got trampled again."
"I can't believe you are this lucky. I hate you."
"A lot of people do. It's not my fault."
"Oh. I have to go. Talk to you later. I hope you stub your toe sometime when your drinking tea with the Queen."
"Sure. Bye." I closed my phone before Salli could talk anymore. I just threw my cell phone on my bed so I could still enjoy my foot rub. Jeff then stopped abruptly. I looked at him to see him looking at me.
"Umm, take a picture, it'll last longer..." He was looking at me more intensely, like Ryan does when I wear skirts with no leggings.
"I don't need a picture, I see your face everyday." He got up from his seat and walked next to me. He started to lean over like he was gonna kiss me.
"Jeff?"

I woke up, screaming. My face was in the side of a shopping bag, with my hair on my face as well. I sat up quickly to find that it was slightly dark out, maybe around 6:30 at night. I looked around the room. The chair Jeff pulled over to me was at it's normal spot, but you could see the marks in the carpet from the legs. I didn't find any Jeff in the room. I needed to know when I feel asleep. I looked for my cell to see that it was still in my purse, I looked for when I last got an incoming call. It said this morning with Chloe.
"Oh thank god. I fell asleep after I got home."
"It was funny that you started snoring in the middle of your foot rub." I jumped. It was Jeff. Great, he can see my dreams. I'm lucky.
"I would never do that to you. Why would you dream something like that?" My eyes got wide and I covered myself with my blanket.
"Don't look at me." I walked over to the dresser and got out my big, pink, fuzzy, bath robe. I put that on as I put the blanket back on my bed.
"You rely too much on your dreams."
"Back off." I rushed out the door and ran door stairs. I almost fell on my face. I'm cute, but I'm clumsy.
"Denis?" I could smell pork, mashed potatoes, corn, and stuffing.
"I'm in the kitchen." I walked in to see he had a bunch of "Instant Make, Shake & Bake" boxes and instant mashed potato boxes.
"You sure do know how to cook, don't you?"
"I just haven't had the time to get to the store." I gave him a look that said, 'We were in town already today.'
"Need any help?"
"Can you set the table?"
"Sure." I gave him another look that said 'Where is everything?'
"Silverware is in the drawer over there, cups and plates in that cupboard there." He gestured with his head.
"Thanks." I got two of everything and set the table. It felt like any other day in life. Denis came out of the kitchen with hot pots and set them on the table.
"Looks good."
'Too bad, you're not having any.'
"Why do you have to be like that? It's just a dream."
'Remember what happened the last time you were in my dream?'
"I didn't mean too. It was like watching a movie and I start acting out everything if I like it."
'You didn't have to react that you were Ryan. You were at my side, even when I was on a date with Ryan!'
"Sorry." I just rolled my eyes and started eating.

"Good night." I was walking up the stairs to go to bed. I didn't realize that movie was so long.
"You too. Sleep tight." I'll try not to. I closed my door behind myself to see Jeff on the balcony.
"I knew I forgot something." I walked over to the glass doors.
"Say good night to me?"
"No, close the door." I closed the door with Jeff on the outside. He just passed through the door like he was a ghost.
"That's not nice."
"I knew you were gonna pass through the door."
"Right. Anyway, good night."
"Whatever." I took my robe off and climbed into bed.

"Want to go sight-seeing today?" Denis and I were at the table, eating breakfast. I was still stuffed from dinner last night.
"Sure."
"Make sure you wear flats. I saw your face after we went to the coffee shop."
"I was thinking about that too. Should I wear green today?"
"Sure. Do you have any green flats?"
"I have flats in almost every color that was thought of."
"I hate you. We can't get colored flats. Only women can wear colored flats."
"Sorry." I got up and washed my plate. I went upstairs after Denis. I went to my room and opened every drawer I thought had my clothes in. I found a green shirt that had Hello Kitty(TM) on the front. I looked for my flats. I found a pair of green ones, with a white stripe on the side, with gems. I picked out a pink skirt that matched the shade of the green shirt. It was slightly a heavy material, like polyester spandex. It was tight at the top, but loosens as it gets to the bottom. I didn't have to worry about it blowing in the wind because there was hardly any wind. I slipped my flats on and walked out of my room. Jeff was right behind me.
"No." He didn't even ask anything and I just had an answer. He stopped n his tracks and I continued walking. I saw Denis at the bottom of the stair case. He looked nice.

"Wow, that is a big wheel."
"Yeah it takes a half an hour to make one trip. If you will realize, all the people getting on, it has to stop, and to let them off it was to stop. That means you will be on it for a lot longer then a half an hour."
"Cool, lets go on it!"
"Can we get coffee real quick?"
"Sure." We walked into town and went to the same coffee shop we went to yesterday. We came back out with our tall Styrofoam cups with the shop's logo on the cups.
"Oh, I need to stop at the bank. Want to check out the sub way?"
"Is it clean?"
"Maybe."
"Yippee."

There was actually nice people on the train. It wasn't really dirty at all. We got these tickets and went a few flights of stairs, like we weren't down to the middle of earth already. It was fun. There aren't many subways in California. Unless you live in the South side of the city with all the gangs than, yeah there are subways. Where else are the gangs gonna put their logo and show where their territory is? We were on the train to the bank. Have they ever heard of ATM's? After what seemed like a 5 minute ride, we were there.
"What, is the bank on the other side of London?" Denis just crossed his arms.
"No, it was just a little slow." We got off after the doors slid open. We had to go up as many stairs as we did down. Boy, that was fun. Once I saw the sun light, I ran.
"Sun! It's the sun!" I was pointing at the sky and people around me just looked at me like I was weird. I thought I was being funny. Denis was right behind me, tssking me.
"Don't do that in public. It's bad for your rep."
"I'm not a native here so I don't really care."
"Ugg. Here we are." I turned to see what he was pointing at. It was a nice, slightly tall building that had windows everywhere. The doors were glass and they rotated. It was still a few blocks away, but it seemed like it was right in front of you. He walked in front of me and I followed. We took two steps ad then stopped. A few people were running out of the bank, screaming. I couldn't understand what they were saying but I knew it was bad. The next thing I knew was flying backwards a few feet. I was sure a did a few back flips before I hit the concrete. I saw Denis a few yards away from me. I don't know what happened next. All I know is that there was glass and wads of burnt money flying past me and some landed on me.

"She will have to stay here for a little bit longer. We have to run a few more tests to make sure she is healthy enough to go outside." The voice I heard first was a deep male voice with an English accent as deep as his voice. I heard a woman sniffle and a few girls talking to a guy. Another thing I heard was a pair of feet walk back and forth, pacing. The only person I knew that paced was my dad. I tried to open my eyes, but it felt like tape was keeping them closed. I kept trying when I finally won. I was in a bright, white room with tubes, machines that went beep, and familiar people. The woman that sniffled noticed I opened my eyes and reacted.
"Lanni. Oh my goodness. You're awake." Once she talked I knew it was my mother. Other people that heard here rushed over. I looked at the crowding circle. I saw, of course, my mother, my father, Crisy, Salli, Chloe, and Ryen. I looked at Ryen for a longer time I looked at anyone else. He was too. I felt a tear fall from my eye. I realized I only had one eye open. I started to lift my hand to feel what was blocking my view when mom grabbed my hand.
"No sudden movements. Don't want to open any stitches." Stitches! I have stitches. What luck. She let go of my hand and I touched what was on my eye. It was a pad with tape over it, wrapped around my head.
"What happened?" It hardly came out. It sounded like a chain smoker's voice or a frog croaking.
"There was a bombing. At a bank." Dad pushed past mom so he could see me better.
"A bomb? Bank?" I couldn't put the two together.
"Yes, there was a bombing at a bank. The searchers found you and Denis piled under a pile of glass and rubble. A few people were near you, but it seemed that you got the piled the most."
"Denis? Where is he?" I started looking around franticly.
"He's fine. He's in the next room. The doctor said you can visit him after he takes another test. We never had to do this many tests in the U.S."
"You mean I'm still in London?"
"Yes, why else would the doctor have such a deep accent?"
"Dad, not now. I want to sleep." I closed my eye and turned my head to the side. Everyone's voice faded quickly.

I opened my eye and sat up. I looked around the room to see Ryen in a chair in the corner, sleeping. I guess I was loud moving, because he suddenly sat up. He looked so peaceful sleeping.
"You're awake." He stood up and walked over.
"So I am."
"How do you feel?"
"I hurt, but I feel better than ever. How did you get here?"
"I flew. Let's just say my arms are tired." I softly punched him in the side.
"Sorry."
"Just stop being stupid."
"Easier said then done." We both chuckled.
"I missed you."
"So did I. How do you always end up getting into harms way?" He held my face in his hands.
"I don't know."
"I mean every time you're away from me, you are always in a bombing or a car accident. I think you do the bombings yourself."
"Then I would be in a hospital with bars on the windows."
"You're right." Then the nurse walked in. Ryen quickly took his hands away and took a step back.
"Umm, the doctor was wondering if you were up to visiting your uncle."
"Yes." She nodded and took the folded wheel chair from the wall and unfolded it. She walked over and sat me in it. I had to take one of those poles with the penicillin or pain killers in the pouch that hangs from the pole. Ryen was back in his chair when I left. We went down the hallway, a few doors down to be exact. The door was already open with nurse check all of the machines. Denis was sitting up and saw me.
"Lanni..." He sorta held his arms out like he wanted to hug me. The nurse that was pushing me parked me next to Denis. The two nurses that were in the room walked out but left the door open.
"Hows my big surviver?"
"I'm fine. How are you?"
"They say I'm better than you." We sat there talking about how we felt and what happened. I don't know how long it took.

"It feels good to be in a plane again."
"Sure it won't go down?" Ryen sat next to me.
"Nope, you're with me." The plane started moving and we were in the air. Not once after that bombing, I have heard from Jeff. I cuddled close to Ryen keeping my bandaged eye away from his shoulder.***
