I Am Not What You Think I Am

People in the bar look at me
wondering if I have got a job
crazy people in their designer suits
some are called William, Stephen and Bob,
They cast glances in my direction
as a couple kiss and go outside
I watch the tender moment
seeing a future that looks just fine,
The barman spins the glasses around
he secretly waits for the applause
I nod my head in his direction
he pours me another shot,
A guy kicks the cigarette machine
cursing as the pack does not drop
he swears under his breath
at the things that will cause him to rot,
A loner sits in the corner
waiting for his guest to turn up
he taps the table with tired fingers
but she is not comming, he has been dropped,
Two men enter the bar
holding each others hands
loving looks to each other
take it while you get the chance,
My date arrives in style
blows me a kiss as she walks in
crazy suits mouths are open wide
this 'jerk' fills with pride.

Goodness, another pillow warmer! :) Lovely write, and you sure managed to capture the human ambiance of a pub.

Do you look disheveled like a starving writer? Lucky man to be meeting a lovely lady, envy of the other guys. But it is obvious that you know how lucky you are, that's part of what makes you special.
