Dragon Tears

by Frank Fields

Love surely lost,
But then who won?
Winter came and went
With Spring behind.
Summer followed
To greet the chill of Fall.

A hush, now, upon the land.
As each leaf fell, love's cry was heard.
The pain of loss, the hurt of heart,
As each falling leaf did cry
A dragon's tear of endless sorrow
To greet the chill of Fall.

An artist's palette brightly shone
As each leaf fell in vain attempt
To hold the love of greening life.
Each leaf falling fell with shrieking
Agony of final death upon a pile
To greet the chill of Fall.

Love surely lost,
But then who won?
A barren Winter came and went
Then Spring again, with lie of life.
Love's back turned to it's own fate,
To greet the chill of Fall.

Better had the truth been told
Of love, not for the sake of love,
But for the passion of a lust.
A dragon's tear must fall for
Love betrayed while held in bondage
To greet the chill of Fall.

Sorrowful and depressing this piece has many metaphors attached to it and thus making it a must read over and over again I had to read it yet your choice of words are best used in thus tapestry true.

A very sorrowful work
but beautiful nonetheless quite lovely in
all its painful glory. A tapestry finely woven indeed
but very painful to read without a doubt.
Keep up the great work Frank A wonderful job well done.

Sometimes I wander back to read your works to remember the feel of why I write, a twist in hope and images created, a blend of all that lives and remembered in verse, you are the image I remember wordsmith.. Walt

I like this poem very much, I could never really make long ones like that, I mean I don't really say much. But it is very nice, I liked the flow of your stanzas and the wording of it all. I think you should to enter it in a poetry contest, I have a feeling that you might win it. I hope you read my other one I wrote, but I would add more, if tis blasted computer would work with me.

Okay nice talking to you, Rayna (Ray)

My, what a poignant poem. 'Dragon's Tears of endless sorrows', hmm? The way you used the four seasons (especially fall) to describe the sorrows of love, was flawless. I enjoyed the repetition of the last line 'To greet the chill of Fall'. That line has a perplexing feel to it, and the reader is allowed a hint of the 'love lost'.

Mr. Fields, you seem to be fond of dragons, for you've metioned the celestial creature in many other of your works.

Very nice piece!

With all due respect and with every courtesy extended to Mr Pekrul, it must be mentioned that The April weather in Canada really wasn't a prime consideration when I drafted this write. The metaphoric portrayal of a selfish love that was lost as are the seasons of the year was a little bit more what I was aiming for. However, all comments are appreciated and from each one something of value is obtained.

A great poem, but somewhat hard to understand in my somewhat simple way of reading things. I love summer and spring; fall not-so-much and winter, yuck, but then I live in Canada, so what's so great about winter? That's what I got out of this. The love for some seasons and not for others. I mean, it's April and we're still getting snow! What's up with that??
