I wrote this song 3/24/07 around five PM Eastern Time. Please enjoy, and note it's a song and has a repeating chorus.

______________________________________________________

Tell me why you try
Tell me what's goin' on
Tell me why you cry
Tell me why you chose this road,
That doesn't lead to dawn

Did you think before you made your choices?
Or did you just blindly follow your heart?
Did you look ahead?
Did you spend any time inside your mind?
Sure, I spend almost all my time in there
Thought cannot agree to common saying
It's not safe inside our minds

Tell me why you try
Tell me what's goin' on
Tell me why you cry
Tell me why you chose this road,
That doesn't lead to dawn

Did you look bad?
Or did demons make you dance?
Did you look before you leaped?
Contrary to belief,
The mind isn't very safe
It can be a sanctuary
Or it can be our demise

Tell me why you try
Tell me what's goin' on
Tell me why you cry
Tell why you chose this road,
That doesn't lead to dawn

Did you wonder if you were lost?
And merely chasing after imaginary light?
Groping for fragments of light...
In the darkness of never-ending night...
Go ahead, destroy the sanctuary
And let all the tears we weep
Add to your shadow

You who stands beside your light,
Have the largest shadow of all
All of the deceit...
All of the blood...
All of the lives...
That could of meant so much
You had to slay them all, to stand beside you light

Tell me why you fight
Tell me where you get your might
Tell me why you try
Tell me why you cry
Tell me where you spirit lies
Hidden in imaginary light

Good song. I liked the use of questions and answers as a structure. Imaginary light--Mehrina said it all. You're a fascinating writer and though I might not get a specific comment for a particular work, know that I enjoyed it. Thanks for a good mind trip!

A phenomenal piece!

I didn't feel as though that this piece revolved mainly on the elements and how well it was written, but more on the words themselves. And there is no doubt that this was very well-written indeed!

Some of the phrases you used in this were simply amazing! "Tell me why you chose this road that doesn't lead to dawn"; "It's not safe inside our minds"; "The mind... can be a sanctuary, or... our demise"; "Go ahead, destroy the sanctuary, and let all the tears we weep add to your shadow". *Amazing*!

I especially liked the parts about imaginary light. I never thought of shadows that way, as imaginary light. But now that you bring it up, I realize it's completely true. Shadows are nothing but imaginary light; places where the light is trying to fall and cannot get through. A mere imitation of light. I suppose that's reason enough to be afraid of our shadows then, huh?

Great write, Leigh!
