Photographic World
by Chessie Hodge (Age: 18)
copyright 04-07-2007

Age Rating: 7 to 127

Showers and splashing
Fingertips and photographs
Missing days long gone

Gray clouds and Sunkist
Sipping on past summer-times
Reveling in rain

Next to the window
Staring at the outside world
Wanting to go back

Cool air seeping in
Tears in the palm of my hand
Nostalgic smile; alone

Ah, the shadows of the past,

growing colder and colder
as the sun fades.

Past events can warm you and chill you alike.

That was very good Haiku. I commend you for it.
How did you learn to write it.

As usual, it was an excellent piece of writing.

I am quickly becoming a great big fan!

Please write often,

~Rich

Ah. How this poem brings up memories of my own. Not just memories but memories of my going over old memories, lol. You make a good point on how we spend so little time of our short lives treasuring what is happening until it is long past. Your writings are very subtle. I like it. Keep up the good work.

My favourite line here is "Fingertips and photographs". To me those three words seem to sum up the feelings of the entire piece. It is said that you can never go home again. Although this may be true, there are always the memories.
Good write.

Bingo! You got it right! Missing days forever swept away by the passage of time and captured only in the light of those old photographs. It took so long to write since I put every stanza in haiku form! I must say though... it is important to remember. Every lost moment of our lives is one we will never get back. It is good to have pictures to remind us to cherish those times, for that is what life is! A series of moments.

This is so bittersweet. I'm reading it as meaning you're missing the times you see in the photographs, and are lonely without the one(s) you see in the pictures.

It makes me think of my best friend in high school. I have a picture of us, wearing similar clothes, with our hair styled the same, holding my dog across our laps. You can see how happy we were on our faces. I've long since lost touch with her, and wish I could see her again.

Thanks for the memories! :)
