This is for you Jess, My true friend
by Samantha P. (Age: 15)
copyright 04-15-2007

Age Rating: 7 to 127

I don't care who reads his, or if you hate it. This is for one of my best friends who needs support. I will die for her, because that's how much I love her. Don't give up Jessica, don't go where I can't follow

Jessica, you are a divine flower

You are one of the rarely blooming flowers that stays shut and alone most of the
time.

Only certain breezes can drift past and open your petals.

When it is bitterly cold, you refuse to die

Even when the freezing weather surround you and painfully slams you down

You are blamed for letting some of your fellow flowers die or even receive pain,
But it's not your fault.

Don't ever forger that the strongest flowers are here for you...

And no wind, rain, snow or anything will rip out our roots.

Eventually in the spring your friends will be the first to open up.

We will comfort you until you do too

Then when you open, the most gorgeous and radiant colors will appear.

God takes the most beautiful flowers away from us,
But I won't let Him take you

Until the death I fight to keep you alive,
Even if it means I must risk my own life

I love you, Jessica

Now this is a masterpiece samantha a piece from the deepest part of your heart. You have a lucky friend as I'm sure you think you're the lucky one too. the description of your friend and the way things happen and will occur is set out most beautifully and flowers was the most precious way to do it. duno if this will make sense but i guess to me in a way friendship is like a flower sometimes friendships blossom and other times you just give up and let the petals fall. but you hit it home with this one and good aswell keep it up and never give up friendship is patience.

The most profound poetry comes from the heart, Antha. You wrote this with all your heart, and I admire this poem for that. It was obviously written as a wholehearted pledge to be there for your true friend, no matter what the consequences. You keep right on doing that, you hear! A true friendship saves a person's life.

Some of the lines here were very beautiful. "God takes the most beautiful flowers away from us, but I won't let Him take you". A clear signal that you truly consider Jessica as the best person she can be. What's really nice about this poem is how you compared her to a flower, because all flowers are beautiful, and few flowers are strong. It's hard to be both, eh?

You wrote a very nice poem, Antha. One to ascribe what you feel as a friend to Jessica, and how determined you are to keep supporting her. Keep the great work up!

Great poem Sam,

I love your openness and the loyal theme of the piece. You are indeed a good friend to have. The piece was well-written although I might place more emphasis on the metaphor, such as:

This divine flower I call Jessica
standing closed and alone on the side of the road
well off from the so-called cream of the crop

Rarely blooming except when caressed by far gentler winds to coax open the petals.

Though your heart is fragile
You withstand the freezing cold of winter
Refusing to die no matter how often or painfully
You are slammed down................

Maybe it's only a matter of style.
Your piece is most beautiful -as are you.

Always your friend,

Rich
