Flights of Fantasy
Thirtieth Movement

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I stepped backwards, losing my footing and landing on my ass with the Tear of Two Souls as the chaos stopped. By the look on Niketa’s face, no time had passed but Trenxi and Akiko were gone. Niketa stood up, and jogged forward to me asking,
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah, the scratches will be healed in a few minutes.”
“Who were you talking to?”
“What?”
“You were focus on something, and I figured you were seeing something I couldn’t.” She replied.
“Yeah…sort of. I talked to Skyevi, again.”
“Wow, you actually spoke to her? Not dreamed of her life?”
“Like I said, sort of.”
My cell phone rang, and I pulled out of my pocket and opened it, surprised it still worked with the smattered blood on it, and saw it was Maaya.
“What’s up?” I asked idly. Niketa shook her head about my calmness.
“Akhy! We’ve got Nioglow secured, and the Twi-LIGHT building under our command. Where are you?”
“The Twi-LIGHT underground. Afraid I didn’t exactly succeed, but I do have the Tear of Two Souls and Niketa is herself again.”
“Are you saying Lena…?” Maaya trailed off. I looked across the room, to see her unconscious by the door saying,
“Yeah.”
“After we reached Twi-LIGHT HQ, Anan went off to investigate something after things were under control. He’s probably heading to your current location.”
I can kill her now, and say it was Trenxi or Akiko, but either way he’s going to know she was alive, sorta. There’s nothing I can do now…
“Gotcha. Where are you?”
“On my way to Nioglow. I’ll see you tonight.”
“Dewa, nochihodo.”

After what seemed like a small eternity of me having to make speeches (damn Ragnarokain soldiers wanting to hear the supposedly dead heir make speeches about what the plans were, Twi-LIGHT’s status, and all that crap…) being check in the infirmary, being forces to drink some nasty-ass liquid to stop any infections I might of picked up from my now-healed cuts, having to discuss battle-plans with Maaya and Katsu, then playing a game of Monopoly with Kairi before she finally went to bed, I was able to flop on the familiar guest bed at Rei’s after a long hot shower.
I didn’t want to hang around Twi-LIGHT HQ, since I knew I wouldn’t be able to get any sleep there, Rei had volunteered we head to her house. Her brother was reported missing, even though if he was alive it’d be a miracle. I didn’t care if the families of the soldiers that were allowed to live in Nioglow had evacuated or were making a stink with Exodus, I was too tired.
It almost felt like old times since Rei had breakfast ready by the time I woke up, her famous home fries and bacon-and-cheese omelets, and even though you heard cars going by and Exodus soldiers patrolling, so it wasn’t silent, it was more than tense.
“So…” Rei asked idly, “What are you thinking about?”
“Akiko, Trenxi, Skyevi, Twi-LIGHT…the usual.”
“And?”
“Exodus?”
“And?”
“Maaya and Katsu?”
“And?”
“Kairi?”
“And?”
“Valkyrie?”
“And?” She continued to ask.
“Mazar?”
“And?”
“Niveldon?”
“And?”
“Blood of Fayt and Tear of Infinity?”
“And?”
“End of Time?”
“And?”
“Skyevi incarnation and reincarnation stuff?”
“And?” She sighed.
“Asking you to check the GPS on my motorcycle since I think it got short-circuited?”
“And?”
“Whether or not the Venerated Dragon is going to bite me?”
“And?” She asked, sounding irritable.
“You died strands of your hair silver to go with the blue and red?”
“And?”
“Spongy circus peanuts of doom?”
“Jeez, I give up! Just admit you’re thinking of Anan already!”
I was silent a moment before saying,
“And Lena.”
“Ha! You admit it!” She said wiggling a fork clad in a bite of omelet at me.
“Are you surprised? You don’t sound it.”
“Duh. I knew you were, I just wanted to get the triumph of getting you to say it yourself.”
“I didn’t exactly say that, I just said ‘and Lena’.”
“Still. Why didn’t you just kill that bitch when you had the chance, anyway?”
I sighed saying,
“Exodus already had the place under control by the time my fight with Trenxi was over, and I lost my chance to keep it all a secret.”
“Your taste in guys rivals the levels of Akiko’s bad taste.”
“Thanks.” I said sarcastically.
“So, that crabby bitch we were traveling with was really Lena, and Niketa is a completely different person?”
“Basically. It’ll be interesting to get to know the real her.”
Rei shook her head saying,
“She’s going to have to be really kind-hearted for me not to automatically call her ‘The Bitch’ in my head anymore.”
I hid a smile asking,
“Did Maaya contact you when I was asleep? She’s probably going to call another meeting soon.”
“Probably, she’ll want all her generals and commanders there. Wonder what they’ve found at Nioglow…”
“A lot of mutations, Special Agents, and Skyevi.”
“I wonder what having Skyevi is going to do…we can be sure all the rules are going to change now.” Rei added.
“When don’t they change when we don’t want them to?” I asked sourly.
Rei stood up and but her plate and fork in the dishwasher asking,
“Do I get the feeling you’d rather of gotten news like he’d been killed during the attack than having Lena and him together again?”
“Very funny.” I said dryly.
“I’m serious.”
I was silent a moment before saying,
“I’ve only known him for three and a half months, it’s not like we were involved or anything. I’m not moping, either.”
“Riiiiiiiiigh.” She said with her famous look to go with it.
“Anyway, when do you plan on heading to Mazar to give Kazuki an ear-full and an ass-kicking?”
“Eh, probably after things here in Ragnarok are stable. And the ass-kicking and ear-full will accrue at the same time.”
I smiled wearily saying,
“I’m going to call Maaya.”
She nodded saying,
“Sounds good.”
After talking with Maaya briefly, and told me to get my ass over there in an hour (not in those words) and to come armed for S&Gs (not in those words either), I was showered and ready to go. I showered just for the routine, even though I’d done it last night too. I wore the body armor shirt, but I wore the old Twi-LIGHT boots, form-fitting beaten up jeans (torn right knee and all), and a white mid-sleeved shirt. I had my katanas, and my mix of pistols as far as weaponry went, and liked the look I had. I always looked a little unbalanced when I was younger; too small for my shoulders and swords. The only thing Akiko and I had in common appearance-wise was eye color, but my eyes always looked like bug-eyes when I was little.
Rei was going to wait to head over to Exodus, and waved as I sped down the streets of Nioglow to the building that had once been a prison to me. I looked down at my GPS to see it was fully functional, and I smiled idly guessing it was a small error if Rei was able to get it ready so easily.
When I reached Exodus’ new HQ and made my way to the meeting room Maaya had chosen, I wasn’t entirely surprised to see the people seated there. Maaya, Katsu, Ryuu, Kazuki, the Crimson Cringe, Maaya’s third commander during the attack, Maharu Yamara, Rikku Mitsuko, Niketa, and Cloud. Kazuki looked like he hadn’t slept in a few days and was awake the courtesy of coffee, but other than him nobody else looked any different. Cloud tried meeting my eyes, but I ignored him and sat down in the empty chair beside Ryuu.
After Maaya read off the stats of Twi-LIGHT and Exodus, the causalities, fatalities, and that entire sort she mentioned Trenxi and Akiko.
“At this point, Robert Trenxi and Akiko Ragnarok are missing. We have search parties all over Ragnarok, Nohin, and Valkyrie is looking for them in Mazar. Because of our planned attacks, we believe they’re either in Mazar or Niveldon.”
“Or Dalmara. You’ve made to move to liberate the Twi-LIGHT agents there.”
“Yes, that’s also a possibility but it would be beside impossible for them to be in Dalmara because they’d have to pass by the airspace Exodus has monitored in southern Ragnarok. Only what’s north of Nioglow isn’t under our control at this point.” Maaya said.
“And there’s a helluva lot of Ragnarok above Nioglow, almost the same square mileage as there is in southern Ragnarok below Nioglow.” I pointed out.
“Very true. There is still a good chance they’re planning a counterattack now.” Maaya admitted.
“What about Kyvia?” Niketa asked. “What if they’re there now and planning something with the Special Agents in that underground?”
Niketa’s question brought up another argument that didn’t interest me much since it wasn’t any news to me and I decided idly I’d rather play cat-Monopoly with Kairi. Who ever invented cat-themed Monopoly was Kairi’s hero, she begged me to play again last night.
The rest of the meeting followed this pattern, and after the bit with Akiko and Trenxi it was all stuff I knew with some minor updates. I had no desire to remember any of it. When we were dismissed, I was the first one out of there followed by Niketa and Rikku. Rikku was bouncy as ever; nothing seemed to dull her spirit.
“Akhy, can I speak with you?” Kazuki called after me. I looked back saying,
“Sure. One second.”
I turned to Rikku and Niketa but before I said anything Rikku said brightly,
“No problem! I’ll go flirt with Katsu to kill some time.”
“What I have to say can wait.” Niketa added.
I nodded saying,
“Good. Dewa, nochihodo.”
Kazuki and I headed into Nioglow and we were off Twi-LIGHT grounds when he finally asked,
“Do you still plan to journey to the Spherical Line and Niveldon for the remaining two relics?”
“Yes.” I replied. “Than to Dalmara. I spoke to Skyevi when I was in Nioglow and-”
“I know.” He said. “You’re both incarnations.”
“How the hell did you-”
He cut me off with a smile saying,
“I have my ways. An agent of mine heard you telling Rei what happened.”
“Did the agent also say she planned on kicking you ass and giving you an ear-full for not contacting her, and that it’s going to be multiplied by ten because you even came to Ragnarok without telling her?”
“No, she left that part out but I expected as much. I planned to go see her after I spoke to you, anyway just to get it over with.”
“I don’t know which one of us is going to have to do what, but I know I should be the one to invoke End of Time just to insure Trenxi doesn’t have any plans to sacrifice her just to use End of Time to destroy Ragnarok, or which ever other counties he wants to.”
Kazuki nodded saying,
“It sounds sensible. Do you think there’s anyway you could get Akiko to remember you so she might side with us?”
“Maybe. I don’t want to depend on it though.”
“Wise choice. Well, I shall leave you with your thoughts and as you so kindly put it receive my ‘ass-kicking’ from Rei.”
I smirked saying,
“I wish you luck.”
“I’ll probably need it. See you soon.”
“Dewa, nochihodo.” I said as he walked off in the direction of Rei’s.
I was lost in my memories as I wondered around Nioglow, since the last few times I’d been here I didn’t have the time to remember things. Two out of three times I was locked in combat. I looked forward to reclaiming Ragnarok; and seeing Nioglow alive again with citizens. Who knows? Maybe even some troublesome kids like Maaya, Rei and me. Maaya had also said during the meeting they were going to wait a little while before heading to the Spherical Line for the Tear of Infinity, mainly because that would be a simple mission as they were unofficially our allies. There probably wouldn’t be any combat. The Blood of Fayt in Niveldon on the other hand…that was guaranteed to be hellish.
I stopped and when I looked around, I realized where I’d been heading without even realizing it. Nioglow’s graveyard; the old site of the capitol. I walked through the iron gates, inwardly wondering what kind of fertilized they used to make the apple and cherry trees grow so quickly. They were already more than twenty-feet tall with broad trunks. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, but the apple blossoms wouldn’t show their colors until later in the year.
I wondered around the huge graveyard that was only half full, and read all the familiar names. There was a place on the far north side where new graves had been dug for the members of the Alpha Grid. There would only be tombstones since the bodies were Twi-LIGHT’s next batch of Special Agents. I stopped when I reached my parent’s graves; they were ser off to the side near the lake. The lake had been put there when the grave yard was built, it wasn’t natural. It was still beautiful though, with the grassy banks and cherry blossoms landing gracefully in it.
The tombstones were large and elaborate things, the names “Arrem Ragnarok” and “Elaine Tryai Ragnarok” carved into them with elegant cursive writing. Grass had long ago grown around the tombstones, and no flowers had been placed upon them in a very long time. I also saw Akiko’s grave to the right of those two, and my own to the left.
I sat down at the foot of a tree a few feet away and wondered if the synthetic bodies that laid my grave and Akiko’s had decayed at all. They weren’t designed to, so it was hard to say if Trenxi made those two able to decay just because their only purpose was to fill a grave and make people believe we were dead.
I didn’t realize it when I nodded off, but when I woke up I guessed I’d been snoozing for a few hours by the position of the sun in the sky. I looked up to see what, or rather who had woken me up and I sighed saying,
“Get lost.”
“I kinda guessed you’d be here when Rikku, Maaya, and Rei didn’t know where you were.” Cloud said sitting down beside me.
“What part of ‘get lost’ did you not comprehend?” I asked scooting away from him. “Lena’s probably looking for you.”
“Actually, I’ve been tied up with Exodus all day. They want me to help with the attack on Kyvia.”
“I’ll believe the Crimson Cringe isn’t a double agent before I believe that.”
“The Crimson Cringe, eh? I take it you mean Akane Arilen? She is a creepy one.”
“Holy shit, her first name is Akane? That means red!” I said surprised, momentarily distracted.
He smiled slightly saying,
“Where do you learn this stuff?”
“Internet. Long days of boredom when I couldn’t go cause trouble with Rei and Maaya when I was little. Anyway, don’t you have somewhere you’re supposed to be?”
“She was unconscious until three AM; I didn’t even talk to her until this morning.” He said idly. “And don’t call me a crab’s ass, like I’m sure you were about to.”
“I was thinking of something worse, actually.”
“I’m not surprised.”
“Even though Exodus and Valkyrie want to wait a while, I think the faster we head to the Spherical Line and Niveldon the better. The further on us can get without Twi-LIGHT the better.”
“I’m assuming you don’t want me tagging along?”
“Aren’t you part of Exodus now?”
“Not officially. I’m still a volunteer.”
“The party’s getting too big again. Heading to the Spherical Line will be easy; it’s just Niveldon that’s going to be a battle. That place is even worse than Mazar.”
“Don’t want any peace, do you?”
“Why try having temporary peace, rather than just fight with only minor breaks to find a true peace that won’t melt away when we stop running away?”
“You’ve got a point. Most people just don’t think that way, I suppose. So, is that a yes or no to whether or not you’re going to let me tag along?”
“As long as you know there’s no way in hell Lena is coming.”
“I’m afraid I’m not that much of an idiot that I thought you’d want her to come along at all.”
“I’d rather you just join Exodus and leave me the hell alone.”
“I figured you’d say that. I suppose you figured that’d I forget all about the promise we made since Lena’s alive.”
I looked away, silent because that’s exactly what I’d figured.
He stood up saying,
“Because I didn’t.”
Well, I assumed and I know what assuming does… I thought as I heard his footsteps fading. I sighed grumbling,
“I hate problems of the heart.”
I only promised I’d do whatever I could not to sacrifice myself, and I learned there was nothing I could do.
Liar. Remember what Skyevi said? “Answer my question with the right answer if you wish to find an alternative.” and “I never said that my incarnations could not have their own souls and wills.”
If I didn’t try to learn what that meant I’d be a liar…
What’s a promise to a jackass matter?
Because, if I didn’t at least try to find out what she meant by that than I’d be a liar. I’m a Ragnarok! I can’t let my honor be stained like that, promise to a jackass or not.
Yeah, but what’s your honor mean when you’re dead?
It means something to the people that know about my lie. I don’t want to be remembered like that, as a death-seeking liar.
I stood up and high-kicked the tree cursing,
“Damn emotions!”
I cursed again as a wave of pain shot up my leg; cheery blossoms rained down on me and plopped down to examine my foot. Aside from some bruises that healed as quickly as it took for them to bleed, there was no other damage. A stray cheery blossom drifted down, and since I was looking up at the time it landed on my nose. I blew on it, and it promptly landed on my shirt, and when I sifted fell into the small V-neck and into my sport’s bra. I removed the little sucked grumbling,
“Perverted cherry blossom…”
I snickered when I thought of how ridiculous I must have sounded saying that. I stood up, stretched, and decided to head back to HQ. I had some research to do.
After about three hours of research, with hardly any results, my stomach growled distinctly loudly and I realized I hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast at Rei’s.
Yuck…Twi-LIGHT food is always pretty crappy. No take-out in Nioglow because there haven’t been citizens here in five years, too. Blast. I hate the food here, even if it is Exodus’ personnel cooking it so I don’t have to worry about being poisoned.
I tried remembering the only thing that was good in kitchens that were pumping out food quickly to feed soldiers; the only thing they couldn’t really screw up was ramen noodles. They'd undercook the carrots in the soup, though. After a not-very-filling dinner I headed back to my room to return to research. It took nearly another hour before I found anything…the sad part was that I found it on Gaia’s largest, free, open-to-all, online encyclopedia. That was a little…disturbing since I’d been hoping around all kinds of random websites with no results.

Incarnations are usually bodies extremely powerful spirits arrange to be born, or are simply created. These bodies have minds and sometimes have their own personas, but in most legends incarnation appear they are only bodies for a spirit to take over.
In distinct to most legends, legends like those of Skyevi, incarnations have souls are have the ability to control when the spirit that incarnated them has control over them. In other legends of Skyevi, incarnations have souls but incomplete souls. They can complete their souls by either completing the mission set for them by the one that incarnated them, or even complete their soul by feeding off souls of the dead. Refer to the following links for more information.

I clicked the most promising link and was brought to a vaguely familiar mythology site. I clicked “Skyevi” under their lists of mythological beings (if they only knew…) and clicked the “Incarnation/Reincarnation” link on the page. After waiting a few moments, I cursed and flopped back on my pillows when it came up was “Webpage Cannot Be Found”.
Damn honor…but it’s not like that’s the only thing. What would happen to Kairi? Without her parents and without me who knows what’d happen to her? Ragnarok needs me too…although the country itself would fair just fine without me, it’d be easier than things would be smoother if I was leading it, as the rightful heir…I never wanted to get into politics, and still don’t through.
Of course I don’t want to die anymore, but I point blank was told that if I didn’t die, things could be royally screwed up. If End of Time took me as a vessel, it would only kill me an endanger Ragnarok, if not all Gaia, if nobody killed me.
How dismal is that?
Just admit you’re extra irritable because of Lena.
I don’t…! …Well, yeah, I suppose I sorta do give a damn. Nothing that I can’t forget about though.
Riiiiiiiiigh.
…Why do I argue with myself so much in my subconscious?

I didn’t realize I nodded off until I heard a loud an extremely aloud-seeming alarm clock sounded. I rambled off a long string of curses as I turned the blasting thing off, and crawled under the sheets determined to get back to sleep when my cell phone. I reached over for the damned little thing where it sat to see it was Niketa. I sighed, remembering she said she wanted to tell me something and I kinda forgot, and irritably answered feeling obligated.
“Moshi-moshi?” I asked answering in Nohinog for S&Gs.
“Did I wake you?”
“It’s not a big deal I shouldn’t be sleeping anyway. What’s up?”
“I can’t really say over the phone. Can you meet me at the cathedral?”
“The cathedral?” I asked trying to hide my demoralization, for I was in the mood to be lazy for the night and sleep for a nice change.
“Is that a problem? It could wait for tomorrow if you’re waiting for injuries to heal or something.”
“Nah, it’s no problem.” I said stretching, energized and now awake-enough and thinking so I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep again if I tried. “I’ll be there in fifteen minutes as long as Cloud isn’t hovering around.”
“Good. See you soon.”
I pulled on my boots, tied back my hair, and grabbed Skyevi’s Sword and my belt. I made it to the underground garage without problems, and left the Twi-LIGHT building easily. I sped through Nioglow on my motorcycle and reached the cathedral after twenty-minutes or so. I walked into the main room asking,
“Konnichiwa.” I looked at my cell phone, realizing it was three AM and added, “Or perhaps I should say ohayo gozaimasu.”
Niketa smiled, looking a little nervous as I sat beside her on the front bench saying,
“Sorry for spacing yesterday. I got a little distracted.”
“It’s alright, I know you’ve got more important things to do. I know Rei doesn’t like me, even though she doesn’t really know me, but one of the things I wanted to say was that I’m sorry for all the trouble Lena caused.”
“It’s alright. I can’t blame you for using the Jewel of Two Souls; I’d probably done the same thing if I was in your situation.”
She smiled slightly and nodded saying,
“Thanks. But, I also wanted to tell you a few things about Lena and me. Firstly, I’m a reincarnation of somebody who knew Skyevi back in Neivila. Lena is too. Because of this, we both learned one of us would have lay down our lives to help in destroying End of Time when the final chaotic came. We were young, and since I’m the older sister we agreed I’d be the one to do it. But, Lena started getting involved with Twi-LIGHT somewhere along the lines. As I’m sure you’ve guessed, she’s pretty much a prostitute and usually seduces the men she plans on taking advantage of. The three of the ones you know would be Anan, Trenxi and Zeev.”
“Wait a second!” I cut in, genuinely surprised. “Zeev? Zeev killed her!”
“I don’t even know all the details in that one. Only that they were dating a few years and something happened, she never told me though. There was more to Zeev killing her than just trying to torment Anan, but I’ve only got vague ideas. Anyway, Trenxi can obliterate memories completely when he’s on a time limit. If you look at the backs of their necks, you might see a small patch in the center. It peels off like a sticker, but if done when the person in question isn’t trying to remember it can cause serious brain damage. I’m not entirely sure how Trenxi does it, but those little things can subdue any memories that could have negative affects on his soldier. What he did to Akiko can’t be reversed to easily, but what Lena plans on tricking Anan into following her out of Nioglow and to Kyvia where Trenxi and Akiko are now, that’s probably what Trenxi will do to make the two of you enemies.
“Lena has had it planned a while, and I wanted to tell you earlier but I didn’t get the chance. I don’t know Anan very well, but I think he’ll fall into her trap.”
I was silent a moment before saying,
“I see.”
“I didn’t want to risk telling you at the Twi-LIGHT building because Lena might have been hovering around somewhere or eavesdropping.”
“She’s not careful about who eavesdrops on her though.”
“That’s how I learned about Zeev actually, eavesdropping. But I’m sure he cares about you so if you tried keeping them apart-”
“No.” I cut her off saying with finality.
“But, why?” She asked, clearly surprised and disappointed at my response.
“I’ve got a mission ahead of me, and I can’t be distracted. Besides…it’s better that he ends up with Lena because I’m only going to die anyway.”
“But that’s where I come in!” Niketa said urgently, “I’m supposed to use Tear of Two Souls as a channel for using the power of my soul to guard you when you destroy End of Time and Skyevi.”
“Wouldn’t that kill you?”
“It can, if I’m not careful. It’s not a guaranteed victory either.”
“All it’d be doing would be putting your life on the line too.”
“But you might be able to survive that way, it’s not like End of Time could enter either of us if I used the Tear of Two Souls to shield us. It’d be a nice change for that nasty little rock to do some good for a change.”
“Yeah…” I trailed off.
“Or do you not think of him that way?”
“To be truthfully, I’ve got no screwing idea. To me, emotions were just SU&SU matters.”
“SU&SU?”
“Suck it up and shut up.” I replied. “As you can guess by that motto, I’m not very good with matters like that.”
“You’re twenty-one and you’ve never had a crush or anything?”
“I’ve only lived sixteen years though. Five years of dreaming hardly count.”
“True…but still. You seriously never liked a guy before?”
“I wasn’t exactly in any positions to.” I said, feeling uncomfortable. Is this what normal girls talk about? And enjoy talking about it? “I was working with Exodus when they were just forming before Twi-LIGHT was at large sneaking in and out of the capital building to get fired at every night.”
“Although I pretty much only drooled, I’ve had more crushed than I can count, and I’m only five years older than you.”
“Yeah, but I was always saving my sister’s ass so I didn’t exactly have a pleasant outlook on such things.”
“For some reason, I can almost believe you when you put it that way.” She looked at me a second before saying, “You look more like your sister than you think.”
“No I don’t.” I said, sounding defensive unintentionally. “I have black hair and green eyes, she had blond-ish gold-y hair and light blue eyes.”
“It doesn’t mean you don’t look like each other though. It’s just the shape of your face really. Do you take after your father or mother?”
“What an extraordinarily weird question. My father, though.”
She nodded asking,
“And I’m guessing Akiko took after your mother?”
“Yeah. It’s still a weird question though. What about your parents, what happened to them?”
“They were doctors.” She replied, “They were sent to Mazar to help the wounded soldiers, but were killed during a bombing. That was during the Mazarain attack over ten years ago, when the Ragnarokain capital was destroyed. Lena was only three or so at the time. When she learned how our parents died, and about the war, she started resenting the world. She’s three years younger than me, and even though I was kinda in charge for a while, she started resenting the world after our parents died. The person she is now…isn’t the one she was before our parents were killed.”
“Seems like I keep hearing more and more sob stories about Ragnarok and Mazar’s conflicts over the last twenty years. I was born shortly after that war ended and my parents took over Ragnarok, than ten years later Mazar started attacking us through Niveldon. That ended just after my parent’s deaths, and we’ve only had a cease-fire with them for five years before now. I wonder what the total death totals of these wars have added up to.”
“Why did Mazar originally attack, anyway? That information wasn’t really exposed to civilians…”
“Isn’t it obvious? They were after Skyevi. That’s why the bombed Nioglow. Ten years ago, they were after the relics here. Now, we made the first move for their relics. It’s a real mess, isn’t it?”
“Very much so.” Niketa agreed. “Mazar’s crippled now, but we still have Niveldon to worry about.”
“And who knows when they’ll attack. Exodus can hardly keep Twi-LIGHT at bay never mind protect Ragnarok from an attack.”
“Do you think Twi-LIGHT would attack Niveldon because they’re attacking Ragnarok?”
“Maybe. But I don’t really know, Trenxi might not because it would help Exodus.”
“I understand what Trenxi’s doing by activating Skyevi to leave the world in shambles for him to them control, but surely his only motive isn’t just to have world domination.” Niketa sighed. “He wouldn’t do it just too hurt Akiko and you, would he?”
I was silent a moment before saying,
“I think he’s driven by revenge. He wants revenge against Skyevi, and plans to get it by doing exactly what she didn’t want to happen and using her to do it.”
“But how could he possibly want revenge against her when she was just an object during his lifetime?”
“When Skyevi was alive, she had a lover named Reluzera. They both lived on Neivila, but somewhere along the lines became enemies. I think when he found out Skyevi planned on sacrificing herself for the world he tried to stop her by destroying the relics, but in a different more risky way just so she didn’t have to die. In the end, she killed Reluzera and harmonized the relics to meld them into herself, but it didn’t work and it only formed a connection between her and them, with End of Time mixed in there somewhere. I don’t know all the details there. I think Trenxi is the reincarnation of Reluzera, and intends to defy her final wishes.”
“But if he loved her, how could they of become enemies?”
“Good question…” I replied, “Maybe he went mad when she was going to lay down her life, I don’t know. I’m better with putting the facts together rather than figuring out why they did what they did, I already told you emotions have been an SU&SU matter for me.”
She stood up saying,
“We probably should head back to Exodus’ HQ. They’ll notice our absences otherwise.”
“Yeah.” I agreed and stood up too. “Need a ride?”
“Nah, I’d rather walk.”
“If you’re sure.”
We were exiting the doors of the cathedral as I locked it behind us saying,
“It’s pretty cool getting to know you like this.”
“Heh, I suppose. You’re probably the only one who feels like that though. Rei really doesn’t like me, even though she only really knows Lena. I can’t blame her though; after all it was my choice to lie.”
“When did Lena take you ever anyway?”
“After I said goodnight to you and Anan. It seems like an eternity ago rather than a few months now that I look back on it.”
“Yeah…” I paused. “You’re right.”
