Denay
by Natalie Amaral
copyright 10-24-2001

Age Rating: 10 to 17

Each day she grows
into a lady so lovely.
Inch by inch is added
to her height,
year by year she grows
in her wisdom.

Eleven years ago,
she was just an infant.
Now she’s become
a tender young lady.
What happened to all
the years gone by;
the years I missed
with my niece
who was once
just a baby?

I found your words leading me down a path, but I did not get a clear picture of the image you were trying to create, the words told a tale. Time passes and youth is a fleeting thing. Make me beleive and become a part
of what you are saying. Let me feel what you feel, see what you see, remember what you hold so close...

Just a moment in time, it goes so fast,
great poem..

Yes Natalie, time flys past so quickly, blink and you will miss it all.
This shows the love you have for your niece, to write a poem about someone is the most perfect way to show your affection.

A great write.

Natalie, this poem is so beautiful and loving towards your niece. And I've been privelaged to meet you and see her photo. She has such a bright friendly smile! Your tribute brings out her inner beauty and as an auntie, I can relate to your words - they do grow up so fast, especially when you aren't able to see them everyday. Wonderful poem.

Do you recall the song "Turn around" (not sure if that's the correct name) sung by Diana Ross? Time sure flies.

Reminds me of my own two daughters, thanks for sharing...Mary
