Final Flight

July 20th, 2007

There is a certain doubt that fills me
Knowing this could very well be the day we all die
We’ve come such a long way,
But there is no promise we shall see another dawn
Or if this world shall exist after the dusk if we fail

How many times will you feel lost,
Ready to withdraw into the graveyard if I died?
What would happen…
If this god being summoned from the heavens won?
As long as you lived, I’d be happy

The journey has lasted so long,
I wonder if we lived how we’d adjust to normal life
Fear has become such a common emotion,
But it’s sister emotion, doubt, was never there before
Even if it was, you were always there to protect me
But soon, the time you can’t protect me will arise

But I know you well enough to be certain…
You’d only live your life out of responsibility
You would rather die today than continue on to tomorrow alone
Would you ever find another light?
Or shall your only happiness die tonight?

We have to continue onward,
I must hide my doubt
I know victory can be achieved,
Even if comes at a high cost
Should I fall,
Just remember it’s the will of this world

You may have come the farthest of us all,
But your journey isn’t over
Even if you feel alone,
I’ll still be near you
Even if you can’t see me

As our final battle begins,
The final thing I request of you is,
Become the godslayer that leads us to light,
And bring dawn to this endless night

Ok... so I felt that only 5 pretty purple praise flowers were not enough... here be 5 more to perfect your boquet!

Thank you again for writing pure inspiration. The last two lines of your poem keep circulating around in my head to a near dizzying degree and echoing in canyons long empty before this night. I like it!

BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!

I am a religious person and read the Bible daily. I especially delve into Revelation at times, recently being foremost, and feel this is very pertinent to what I've been reading.

There are gods of this world, and the god of this cruel system of things that the Bible calls Satan. (Notice the lower case "g" as he is not THE ALMIGHTY God and creator of the universe and all that is). Ah, were God to empower his son, the King of God's righteous kingdom, today, this VERY day, and let the winds and powers of Armageddon loose... what sights would be beheld indeed! And the Christ, the godslayer would as always, lead us to God's light, and bring... once and for all time... dawn to this seemingly endless and infernal night!

Pow! Right in my emotions! This is beautiful. Your verse is getting ever better, and your flow is easy and rhythmical. Despite the sadness in the piece it provided an uplift to a guy who certainly needed one. Now to read your other pieces! My best....

This was... absolutely beautiful. I don't have anything to say except that I am profoundly moved. "The journey has lasted so long/ I wonder if we lived how we'd adjust to a normal life" "You would rather die today than continue on to tomorrow alone" "Become the godslayer that leads us to light/ And bring dawn to this endless night" Those were words that really touched my heart. I've been going through some hard times lately, but I feel I've been given some new strength. Thank you for writing this.
