I,ve written nothing new this year
The year that I was 80
I,ve sat with pen and paper
To try a verse that was weighty.
But, nothing came to mind
The words I could not find
The day itself was memorable
We spent it by the sea
I knew I was not well or able
Then came the big shock, the BIG C
So since then I,ve written nothing new
This year that I was 80.

As we live so we die in words and in mind controlling places we escape From and too, writing is that gift of understanding holding and sharing all about us, poem pulls at and demands response, clever and more, a creative reminder of time spent and shared.. Walt
and so now you have written something new.
I like the flow of it in the beginning, though the last few lines didn't quite flow as the rest of the poem. all in all, though, very nice, refreshing and honest.
