away from grace
spiraling downward
towards the grave
dug by old insecurities
and made all too firm
by our subtle adultery
chilling what’s left
of our conscience
as tangible reality
forbidden with its fruit
the gleaming apple
of poison truth
kills what’s left of our divinity
and leaves us gasping
grasping
pulling
farther
away from our ignorance
our blessed ignorance
that kept us safe so long
kept us separated
elevated
from that which destroys us

from that which makes us human
