World turned to run but I could not move
Time had its way with me and I was late
Heartache pleading for my soul
She alone pleaded for me
Before the God I stood
Punished for the right
As judgment passed
I drew the sword to defend
Tears burned on my cheeks
Past fear only tide of life
No cause or reason as pain
Bridge to troubled water
Stood before me in quest
Soul as dark as the death
Battlefield covered in blood
Child and woman none spared
Hate bleeds dark as sin left
Flesh for careen to devour
Yet I stood before the God
Neither man nor soul only
A whisper on a page cold
Life had fled to faces about me
A spark fled in love as I was granted
Peace and life to tend and mend
Passion again returned
A touch of life smile of redemption
Water cool takes me to re-birth
Her smile settled in reflection on a world
New in voice and eyes seeing past self

This story is a common one. The poem is not, but the loss is a thing we all have to endure. We do get to find new loves because the heart is stronger than we think it is. The sorrow gets less painful when there is another avenue for it to be channeled too! Great write as usual. (that sounds funny because I haven't been here for a while, But you know what I mean) Anthony
I liked the imagery in this poem alot, but there are a few flaws. In the first line of the second stanza, I think I'd remove "the" before God, and in the 12th line I think you meant "women". The message is a little unclear to me on how it is a reprieve, but the imagery is fantastic, and I think it out-weighs the spelling mistakes at this point but it does leave something to be desired.
