Concert for One
by Wayne Thomas (Age: 58)
copyright 01-01-2008

Age Rating: 10 to 127

"Just a little music," he said,
"cuts through a gray afternoon like a knife.
"What a boost to the spirit!"

"It needn't be Debussy or Rimsky-Korsakov, no,
"Hank Williams will do,
"or even, even-n Abba."

He closed his eyes and reminisced. "I'm partial
to folk songs," he drawled, and old time
rock-n-roll."

"It's the notes and keys and clefs
"that do the soothing,
"not to mention a good back beat and bass."

He opened his eyes and pointed a finger toward me.
"I once spent most of a day," he said,
"listening to Japanese koto music.

"The lift to the spirit was--
"immeasurable, like a good chocolate pie
"after supper."

"A simple life, a little music,
"a concert in the park for one--
"Good stuff," he said, "It gets in the head
and stays."

What a wonderful and spiritual poem. A great feeling of peace comes over me every time I read this. Music is a perfect partner for spirituality as they walk arm in arm through our lives. I liked the structure very much. Technical well-written as I have come to expect from you.

Best for me:"Just a little music," he said,

Excellent read,

~Rich

P.S. I like Hank Williams/I have played the guitar quite a long time.

What to say, a feeling special, words and thought dance. I am at once their and seeing and sharing over the shoulder, warm memories for once upon a time, I was singer in park, singing for many but only one held my heart, thank you for rekindling that moment.. Walt
