November Moon
by Moses Hochstetler (Age: 59)
copyright 01-27-2008

Age Rating: 13 to 127

November winds exacerbate
October's dying breath,
With summer's life now ending
In such a chilling death.

But colors spilling from the trees,
From every shrub and bush;
Does pale the essence of July,
And flowers' vivid blush.

Would that I could live my life
As April, May, and June,
And lay myself down quietly
Beneath November's moon.

Reading your works always is soothing to my mind. You write well and the pictures I see while reading are beautiful! Great job, Anthony

This one fits like a glove. Sums my feelings up completely on the subject of winter. Think I'll take the advise posted below me and fly away next year. Skip Novembers chill altogether. If...I'd seen this in October...I might have packed a small case and ran down the driveway...ha..ha..! Enjoyed it!

A very nice poem obviously written from a mature pen. November can be a bit unkindly after a beautiful summer. Come, south, however to South Texas where I live and see roses in December with grapefruit on the trees. Our city fills with those who enjoyed beautiful Aprils through July, but with the chill of November they make their trek South like migrating birds. That's why we call them snowbirds. I know the poem had deeper meaning and I caught that. Dale

Your writing is special it captures the feel, the image of life, a touch of a painting waiting to be held, twinkle in words, a smile on hold, your gift special, it is good to hear you again.. Walt
