Our Wedding Day or The Perfect Storm

How could we forget that cold winter morn
Rain froze in its tracks, an ice storm was born
It crippled the city as never before
Everything closed, every school, every store
It was February 14, Valentine's day
When love's arrows strike in a special way
Meticulous plans had been made well ahead
For this was the day we were to be wed
But it now seemed as though it would not be for us
For nature had made a calamitous fuss
HELP
CRISIS
Our plans are disposed
We've a date with the judge
And the courthouse is
CLOSED
Then morning grew old, warm sunshine peeped through
It soon became clear just what we must do
We picked up the phone, we called every church
And lo and behold we found Reverend Burch
Jim came to our rescue with spirit and grace
Midst blessings abundant
THE MARRIAGE TOOK PLACE
What a glorious day in every detail
The cruelty of winter did not prevail
From bitterly hostile to joyously warm
Oh thank you, Lord, for the perfect storm
What could be better this side of heaven
Than February 14, 2007
A/N: This is the true tale of the wedding day of Richard Reed and June Nazarian one year ago. Happy anniversary, Ricky, my love

I've been working my way backwards on your poems and trying not to confuse myself in the process. I was "away" until a few days ago, and couldn't congratulate the two of you, sooner. Your poem:
somewhat mixed feelings about the lines in all-caps, but also recognition that every writer needs some freedom, some "poetic license" to be expressive as they choose and are comfortable.
The imagery was quite good, the emotional content well described and displayed, the texture tangible, the opening, development, and ending all coherent and well done. On the syllabication: the lines don't follow a set number of syllables, but the over-all rhythm is established and maintained.
I was pleased to see that you had removed that one extra syllable. It would have interrupted the flow.
There is one line using the word "strike" that is in conflict with tense agreement. But, to change it would also change the tone, so it's better left as is.
Beyond those few> thoughts, all I can really offer is
Congratulations to both of you! ^^

Welcome to PnP! ^_^
Aahhh! Valentines day is such a good day to marry and become one with the person that you love ^_^ My husband proposed to me on Valentines day last year. Thus the reason why I can't ever forget Valentine's day. I'm glad that you two never gave up on trying to find someone to marry you, even in that horrible storm.
I was looking at your profile and from the looks of it, you are just begining to explore your horizions as a writer. You know, for some reason, I find myself doubting that. I've read two of your poems thus far, and I've given them both a five. You're a natural at this! And I can see how living with somebody like Richard would inspire you. He is a great writer as well!
Nice poem! By the beginning I thought it was going to be one of those sad pieces. When I saw the title I figured it'd be about divorce, so I was pleasantly surprised to see otherwise. XD
Anyway, the rhymes really kept the piece flowing. Your choice of words was refreshing and held the reader's attention. However, I do dislike the capitalization of a few of those lines. It doesn't really have an actual purpose and seems a tad immature. Other than that, this piece was very good. Happy (bladed) anniversary. :) Welcome to PnP!
This was such a sweet poem! Your love shines through brightly. I'm glad that you didn't let the weather completely ruin such a joyous day. Happy anniversary to you & to Rich. I hope you enjoy a lifetime of anniversaries together. Congratulations!
