Long Term Confusion
by Emily Garwood (Age: 21)
copyright 03-14-2008

Age Rating: 10 to 127

You're my other half,
The real one,
After all this time...
Just the thought of you makes me smile.

But I got another life,
And I'm left confused,
Because things are so wrong,
And you could make them all right.

Maybe you're the one,
The one I need to be complete,
God, tell me what to do,
I'm so confused.

The music we listened together,
Everything has a meaning,
And it's always you,
You I see when I close my eyes.

I'm being tortured,
By an old love; so pleasing,
It cannot be forgotten,
A new love tainted by arguments....and nothing more.

I always dreamed of you,
So why not,
Why can't I be at my happiest?
I'm so confused....

what should I do?

Emily - This is a very nice poem. It so clearly shows the longing for something perceived to be better. Sometimes we falsely idealize that which we have lost into something larger than life. Makes for good poetry, but often it's not reality. Very enjoyable, thanks.....June

Indeed, what can one do? Any of us when finding this dilemma to be a reality, unborn of paper backs and silver screens? Your writing reminds me, at any rate, that life would be so much simpler and much less cruel if we could but see into the true reality of our other half. ^^
