China Rose

Upon a console table
next to an open window
sits a fragile flower
yellow petals edged with gold
brushed on porcelain
shimmering in the moonlight
reflecting an image
of sheer perfection
for all your radiant beauty
made with human hands
pretending to be a work of nature
like polished glass substituting for a diamond
nature's mystery
outshines your deception
like gossamer easily seen-through
an illusion quickly broken by
a slight gust of wind
through an open window
or the slippery hands of humanity

just beautiful...you painted a scene so stunning I had to read it over and over. This paints many pictures of alot of things for me...pure perfection in this write! Good work...or should I say spectacular work!!!!
Ricky - as Freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I think this poem is really about a porcelain flower, and a very beautiful one at that. I do see something metaphoric, though. Deception wears a transparent coat and can be readily exposed. You are a master of pretty language, let's hope it rubs off......Juney
So applicable to so many things. This was quite mesmerizing, Rich. The only thing my salty pen complained about was the age. 1 year old seems to be a little low. My thinking only. Within that age bracket, a precocious child could have the story read and provide fuel for some very good thoughts.
Which it should certainly provide for all the rest of us, as well. I think we should all provide safe haven for every China Rose in our lives, that they may never be damaged in any way, by any thing.
