Farewells are never easy
Goodbyes are always hard
This one begins no different
We are played no foreign card.
To so many people I say farewell
And promise to return
And what the future truly brings
My mind will never learn.
This club has been my family
My refuge and my home.
And when I leave one final time
I will not leave alone.
With all my District memories
“D8 TO THE WORLD” and such
I will not ever truly leave,
These memories I will clutch.
To the Advisors from everyone
A thank you for all that you have done.
To the officers and members
Of club 08-09,
I wish you all the best of luck,
In continuing this rhyme.
*I wrote this for the end of the year Key Club Banquet. I am retireing as club secretary with many accomplishments under my belt and many memories to take with me. On to Circle K!

I understand this poem very well. I also see and hear the pride and sadness and the many friends along the way. You may leave, the club continues, and the friendships last forever. This is very well written, nicely developed, and well presented. I expect that the members were pleased as well. Not with your leaving, but that you held them in enough respect to offer a heart's gift.
