The mirrors are lying to her
She's only consumed by fear
Messages of hate go through her mind
To her own beauty, she is blind
She silently thinks to herself,
"No one would care if I left."
As she slowly looses the battle
Those cuts are no longer accidental.
More and more blood is spilt
Some lives can't be rebuilt
A walking disaster
She's a self-abuser
Mother worries about you
What can she do?
Father is scared of what you've become,
What if this can't be undone?
What happened to her baby girl?
What happened to his shining pearl?
Why does she do this to her body?
Why does she hurt herself so agressively?
Not even the doctors can fix her health-
Because the true poison is herself.
Not even the doctors can fix her health-
Because the true poison is herself.

Hi Lauren -Wow, what a strong emotion I get from this poem. As others have said, I hope it's not about yourself. A few years ago I heard of this "cutting" and must say I was stunned. I hope that practice will go the way of the dinosaur and be replaced by something more positive. Anyway, wonderful poem, thanks...June
That was such an amazing, deep, and strong poem. It really reached out to me because I've been through the exact same thing. You did a spectacular job grasping the pain and the truth of this situation. Amazing work. Keep it up!
