My doggy is having puppies! My little baby Lady Sadie isn't quite a year old and she is a fat pregnant cow!
My land lord, who is a retired dog musher and knows loads about dogs told me today that she should probably have them in the next week!
I don't know how many she is going to have... But judging on how fat she is, I am guessing that it'll be at least 8 or more!
The first time she ever went into heat... And she got knocked up by 1...2... maybe even 3 dogs! Can you believe it? I'm thinking of a word... Can you guess what it is?
It's funny, though. She has gotten so slow! She can hardly run and she gets up slower. And when she walks, her belly wobbles from side to side. It's so funny!
My husband is at home making a whelping box for her. As soon as its done, I'm probably going to camping outside of it lest she go into labor when I am sleeping (like so many animals seem to love to do)!
I really don't want her to go into labor and decide to have her pups in my bed... I had a cat once who had kittens in my bed when I was sleeping.... That wasn't very cool...
UPDATE:
Last Sunday, the night of the 20th and 21st, Sadie went into labor and gave birth to 12 beautiful puppies! They don't have names except for #12, Lucky, who almost didn't survive. She came out very limp and with fluids still in her lungs. I spent 45 minutes rubbing her and syringing out the fluids and she is a very strong puppy today!
Sadly, we lost the runt of the litter. He passed away Saturday night (the 26th) after being too skinny. We tried to get him to nurse and feed him, but it wasn't enough.
But, we still have 11 very cute and strong puppies!
