I am sailing on the Southern Ocean
Beneath a canopy of stars.
I am a sailor, and I’m a warrior,
Homeward bound now from the wars.
I heard no sirens, fought no monsters
On this modern odyssey;
But I am weary from my journeys
And my life upon the sea.
I am sailing on the Southern Ocean;
I am following the stars.
I am a sailor, and I’m a poet,
Heading home, beneath the stars.
And my shipmates, they are my family;
We stand together every day.
We are young ones, we are old ones,
We are standing in harm’s way.
We are sailing on the Southern Ocean;
We are flying stripes and stars.
We are sailors, and we are brothers,
Going home now from the wars.
I have children, I have not seen them
Since I took myself to sea.
In my dreams I see their mother,
She is reaching out for me.
I am sailing on the Southern Ocean,
Looking for my falling star.
I am a sailor, and I’m a dreamer,
Homeward bound now from the war.
Homeward bound now from the war.
