Sinister Sympathy

The emotional rollercoaster
Oh how it makes me sick
I want to burn those whiney clockwork figures
And then see how they tick.
You think you know it all?
You think your life’s a mess?
How happy I will be,
When you lay yourself to rest.
Tell the world you’re all alone
Then they agree with you.
If you are the only one
How come they feel it too?

You write on silly pages
Live journal, Gaia, Myspace.
You post your suicide note
And a pic. your sad, pathetic face.
You check it every day
To see if they care about you.
You get comfort from lonely people
All the pain they self-induce.
Some people strive to be different
Some want to blend in.
It would scare each one to know
What I would do to them.

Some would agree
Try to help me with my plans
Thinking they’re like me
And licking blood off of their hands.
Some say they have no choice
There is nothing they can do,
When there is no situation
In which that notion’s true.

I want to put up a fight
Waiting for the men in white
To carry me away from you
They’d lock me up forever for the things I say and do.
Someday you’ll read this poem and realize it was never you
You’ll pity me thinking I’m insane, but I’ll still pity you.

I hate you even more
For the things that you still do
I can laugh and tell the world
what is really true.
But they’ll still misinterpret
Or find something else to do
For the nonsense that I preach
Could never be true.

Hmm, I'm quite impressed by this piece. I can agree with the mentioned grievance and frustration mentioned in the second paragraph, along with the hint at becoming disgusted with people who dramatically cry about all their problems, talk about suicide, but just wait for the number of page views to raise.

Good work on this piece; the unique topic and mood was very interesting.

Wrong. I hate it when people comment on some imaginary poem. Seriously what the heck are they reading?

Why are you on a poetry site if you have an attitude about everything? If you can't take constructive criticism, you need to visit some of the other sites if you don't want to be critiqued. you have a great talent - i am drawn to this one.

Impressive poem. The beginning was very thoughtful and pleasant the picture. The second part I could relate to though, because I joined DeviantART this last summer and one girl I decided to put on my watch list because she was supposed to send me some music, posts whiny journal updates a few times a day. >.> The most recent one was particularly like the situation you described here.

I more or less lost respect for her when she went from sullen saying her cousin was missing then to bouncy-cheerful-fangirl a few paragraphs later.

All in all, very nice piece. :) I'd say more but I'm being poked off the PC to go to the grocery store. *sweat drop*

Well duh. I know it takes guts, but it is still stupid. Not everyone can change their lives. They can only change how they act. oh and the "Love and kisses" thing creeps me out.

People tend to read things the way they want and get only what they desire or not. Most don't try to see the meanings the writer may have had and some could not find it with a map. People are shallow for the most part and only really think of themselves. killing yourself actually takes more guts than you think and most try it for attention without really wanting the obvious outcome. I have read many things on the net about killing ones self, but my answer is always the same...if you don't like your life....change it! Only the person living the life can change it. It's not easy, but it can and has been done. I wish everyone happiness, but realize that it's not my choice! Good write to make one think. Love and kisses, Anthony
