E'en Under
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 10-29-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

My mind set sail on the blue Cyber Sea;
I’d loosened its moorings and set course for thee.
‘T was only a figment of stark fantasy,
but chose this in pref’rence to insanity.

My mind cast adrift to that calmer place;
I’d lost all control in reality space.
I’d fallen from love and fallen from grace;
and lost recognition of my fear filled face.

I’ve found no escape from the horrors of life.
No one can bring peace - there’s no peace inside;
Can’t even seek solace in arms of my wife.
So vacant and chill I’ve an essence that’s died.

Oblivion beckons Death cackles with glee.
E’en under those waves there’s no comfort for me.

There's a sailor's adage which says: If you haven't run aground, you haven't really been cruising.

If you can free yourself from the reef, I suspect there are better waters ahead of you. I wish you well.

Did you ever lie on the bottom of a pool and breathe out all your air? It creates the euphoria of oxygen starvation...and feels great but you better have someone there to pull you out. I dreamt my boat capsized and the waves that had battered it were frightening but once under the water I became warm and tranquil and when I awoke I was no longer afraid of water, so I learned to swim....you remind me of that. You too can start anew...
