Tick Tick Tick...Toll

"All of those who play, unfairly, must pay the toll"

Goblets in stained
Glass red
Dripping crystal

Glistening
In moonlight
For eyes that no longer see

Empty place settings
Screaming for loud
Bursts of laughter

The clock
In his entry
Metronome, methodically
Toasts the hour

Tick,
Tick,
Tick

His ears ignore
The sound
Time has slipped
Away forever

The old man
Has no needs
No wants

Familiar foes
Have gone on
Before him

He has become
Obscure in all things
That now, swallow him

Tick, tick, tick,

Toll

love this work, as though counting down till the end (payment). Love the line "Glistening in moonlight for eyes that no longer see."
