I’ve had it all
I’ve been a sailor on the sea
I’ve had it all
I’ve had a woman who loved me
I’ve had it all
I’ve watched my kids grow straight and tall
I’ve had it all.
I saw the landing on the moon
I’ve had it all
I’ve seen the desert when it blooms
I’ve had it all
I’ve been in Stockbridge in the Fall
I’ve had it all.
I’ve seen the Northern Lights aglow
I’ve had it all
I’ve steered a Mississippi tow
I’ve had it all
I’ve seen what Galileo saw
I’ve had it all.
I’ve had my books and poetry
I’ve had it all
I’ve had some friends who stood by me
I’ve had it all
I saw the breeching of The Wall
I’ve had it all.
I’ve had the good sense to refrain
I’ve had it all
I’ve had the courage to remain
I’ve had it all
I've had the grace to recognize
I’ve had it all.

You do most definitely have plenty to smile about if this is in fact, Mike the author in this poem? If not, the next door fictional guy down the hall, has much to smile about as well.
After reading this again twice to double check...yes, this must be you (the man) in this tally. Looks like, you've had an interesting ride.
Being able to watch your children grow straight and tall is large, in itself. Wonderful to hear this personal account. Paints a nice picture of a life truly seen, felt and experienced.
Good sense, courage and grace. I'm betting those three things were passed along to many, during your personal voyage.
I enjoyed hearing...these details. Hope there's many more adventures (lots of horizons to sail into) before you steer into that final chartered sunset.
Wishing,
Good health to accompany you in all your days.
And so many people think they've had nothing at all. Anyone who could read this piece would realize that they, also, have had it all. Maybe not the same, of course, but still enough to fill their cups.
Sometimes people link "having it all" to mean having many things. This poem helps us to realize that having it all can mean having all the experiences in life, but to that I should add....you got many more to experience. Good write to make one think. I've been away for a while, but am trying to get back more often. I'm glad I stopped to read this and reflect on my life's experiences, Thanks, Anthony
