Nana Rands.
by Denise Johnson (Age: 27)
copyright 06-27-2008

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I always remember your gentle touch,
The time I spent with you means so much.
You never minded spending time with me,
You made me feel special when I sat on your knee.

Whenever you smiled you lit up the room,
Your eyes would sparkle like shimmering jewels.
You always showed me love and respect,
You lived your life full, hardly any regrets.

When I spoke, it was you that would listen,
You gave me new hope, such a wonderful vision.
You believed in me, always on my side,
It’s so unfair, why did you have to die?

I wish I could of spent more time with you,
There were so many things I wanted us to do.
You were the only one to see the good in me,
You opened your heart and gave me the key.

I would trade all I have to see you one last time,
As I’m truly heart broken, but I pretend that I’m fine.
You were more then my Nana, you were my best friend,
I hope we will meet again and it is not the very end.

Denise, this was so touching. I have a big lump in my throat. It's always so difficult to lose the special people in our lives, and it seems you and your Nana did indeed share something very special. Your poem is soft, sweet and gentle, just as your relationship most certainly was....June
