Gray day dawns on dreary day
As my life unfolds
On stories which weren't told
The jungle fever racked me round
The pretty little thing
I called my love
Now gone
Across the sea on tiny
Fishing boat
Not for fortune but for
The boast
Long, sleepless nights
Wandering through tropic
Streets
In tropic nights
How many miles gone
By plane and boat and car
And train
Across this country and
Some others, too
And always at my side
Close by
A pretty little love
Of mine
How many canvases are there
Each with a different scene
More than can be counted
Or really seen
Some bright with bright
Some with a gray day
Dawn
But all my own
My life's treasure
Worth more than gold
A youngster's life
Filled with youngster's
Things
A young man's life
Filled with love and paint
And words
On to an old man's life
Filled with things
Long lost and most
Forgotten
The pretty little thing
Who was my wife
My love
Stays ever at my side
But as the tapestry
Unfolds
The pages turn
The visions all appear
Until the library
Of Life
Seems filled
With but one more
Chapter
To be penned

Word smith, the voice moves at your command, pull and dance, artists brush pushing strokes into forms touching places I thought had died long ago, above reality, I wish I had written this, highest compliment I give, other than I would pay cash... special indeed... Walt
Okay, I absolutely love you.
This is just--wow. The picture that I actually thought of was the image of a man in the early part of the century, probably about the time King Kong was originally intended, trudging through a tropical forest dressed in slacks, suspenders, and a white shirt. Like Lost World. Thinking of his wife left behind while he goes on a medical journey. Then the image moved to the sight of him studying the paintings of her, old and hunched over, stroking over the face he loved and the sky the same through out it all--a gray overcast of clouds. Thinking of her and realizing he'll join her soon in death.
Frank - Your poetry is very beautiful as are the artworks which always grace your entries. I must say, though, I often find a lump in my throat after a read. I do see some optimism, however, from dreary to gray, as another chapter in life's library unfolds. Really enjoy your metaphors. Thanks for this........June
