Bunny Business
by Mary -BrytEyz- Ball (Age: 40)

When the warm summer breeze blows through the window
And dust dances down the bright rays of sunshine
I think fondly of happy times that made me smile
And precious memories I greedily hoard as all mine

It's then that the scent of violets and sweet flowers
Encourage me to breathe in deep, and slowly
Courting my senses, and gently elevating my mood
Before disappearing just as quiet and lowly

I can't help but grin ear to ear at this wonderful life
With all its blessings... future, present, and past
Remembering to say a prayer to the One who provided it all
Elated for the moment Jah so perfectly cast

Each page belonging to a grander story
Each moment an actor, each wonder it's prop
The world, as said by others, merely life's stage
A circus, center ring in the largest big top

And as the plot thickens, and my life's story unfolds
Sitting at the edge of my seat I wait eagerly
Wanting to know just what part you play
And if the future will ever bring you nearer to me

Nope, this is not a romance poem.
It's about our bunny and trying to catch him.
Bunnies are hard to catch sometimes!
My son’s bunny wanted some exercise,
So I let it out for a bit. BAD IDEA!

When it was time to go back IN the cage,
The bunny wasn’t very agreeable to the idea.
“Why?” I wondered, “Why are you in our life?”
And I smiled remembering how cute DJ looked
When he walked up to me with those pleading eyes,
Silently asking, “Can we keep him?”
I pick my battles carefully,
And this was NOT one worth fighting.

Well, I chased and chased and cornered
I tried to trap and plead and entice with carrots
I imagined Jehovah and the angels enjoying the show
Laughing at my expense... quite heartily!

So, before catching the culprit, I sat, winded
Typing this poem at the laptop,
Waiting for it to fall asleep... or something
He just sat there, looking at me, very defiantly.
Can’t you SEE IT in his eyes?!?!
I CAN!!!

each line a verse in life, we chase, find, share, love fills, a shadow of the perfection, a poet takes and gives reality life, imagination just beyond our reach, your son has touched that special spot, may your rabbit remind you of many more of the truths waiting for us all.. Walt

Life is like the rabbit. When you chase it, it runs. When you live it to it's fullest, it makes you breathless and when you least expect it, it will hop right up to you! This is a wonderful story and poem. I miss your writes, Anthony

June,

Thank you for the kinds words. And yes, I DID catch him. They say curiosity killed the cat, but it caught the bunny too! LOL.

And yes, as you have so cleverly read, there is MUCH more to this poem than simply catching a wayward bunny. I was thoroughly enjoying the day, the week, my entire life at that moment. I sat, winded, laughing at the scene as it replayed in my head. What a character I was, what a show it was, indeed!

And isn't that true of our entire life? Each and every blessed moment? Happy sigh... I think so! And so a few pleasant memories came gratefully to mind as I typed the words that I couldn't possibly damn up. Sometimes they end up scribbled on napkins, or receipts, or karaoke slips. This time, however, I happened to be by the computer and on PnP it was! LOL.

Again, thanks for reading and leaving such thoughtful comments. They mean a great deal to me!

Yes, I can see the defiant look in his sweet eyes. I assume you eventually caught him, LOL.
Mary, this was a wonderful poem. I am always amazed by how freely, easily, and descriptively your words flow. There is so much more to this than your saga with the bunny, though very cute story that is. To me it's the story of reveling in all of life, whatever it is at the moment. Thanks for this....June

Frank,

My fellow poet and much esteemed colleague
How could I 'ere think you an arse,
Jack or otherwise

For you see, respected one of PnP
Though my praise for you be wane and sparse
From this fan, BrytEyz

Your words mean more than I could ever say
They touch me deep inside my soul
And bear upon strings seldom played

For I take your phrasings penned this day
In part and as a whole
That you completely understood just what I said

Thank you for the time you've taken
The effort you've bestowed
And fastidious comments you leave for me

You've hit the nail on the head and not mistaken
My writings plain and not in code
In reply, I thank you, repeatedly and graciously

Well now, some writers will write beyond what they've written as the intended write, but with "epilogue" or trailer information, to help us understand what they wrote a little bit better.

Of course, what they don't tell, perhaps because they may not be aware of it themselves, is that the trailer information is really a continuation of the preceding write.

This write seems to be like that, for though disclaiming (that word is popular, now) on the one hand, it seems to have all the elements for a piece being disclaimed.

Perhaps not of romance, per se, but still elemental of love which brings it into a romantic arena. Even 'twere it hate, that is also an element of the Romantic genre.

Well done. ^^

Frank :)

Now then, when you have interpreted all of that, please let me know so I won't appear like a jackass.
