Thinking
by June Nazarian
copyright 09-08-2008

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Don't you know
Your incessant chatter
Tangles my threads
Like a useless skein of yarn

You haunt cunningly
As mocking gnomes
Carefully guard treasure
Of unanswerable queries

You taunt diabolically
Isolating child from parent
Making riddle from reason
To separate me from me

I don't know who I am
Or why I am
Or why I am who I am
Or why I am not someone else

Yet I am keenly aware that
The anguish you cause
Compellingly reveals the "I"
I sorely desire to know

No doubt we must war
And I remain high on the seesaw
Thinking will perish
Should we ever find the fulcrum

Interesting poem that is well thought out and a wonderful play on words. Loved the ending as it can be funny or serious and makes the poem end well. It was a pleasure to read this one. Thanks, Jeanette
