Hesitation

by Richard Reed Jr

Age Rating: 7 +

sometimes it is
an instant slowness of time
a moment that can scarcely be seen
like the movement
of the eye of an insect
before the iguana's tongue strikes

other times a moment can be
a lifetime of longing

the rain drips through
the leaves fast or slow
knowing nothing of it

and the two lovers
concealed around the corner
fool no one by hiding
in the dark shadows

If pleasure requires prolonging
slowness is not to be misconstrued
with the scent of the cherry blossom
just before it opens

Why is it that your poems always bring such images to my mind. You have a GREAT talent for that, congratulations!
"A lifetime of longing"
That line rings true to me. I long for so much in my life that will never be fufilled, due to my hesitation. ;;
Great write, I'd like to read more of your poems.

The most striking feature in this composition is the arrangement of unique comparison, a true poetic conceit. You have definitely created a very cohesive poem, both semantically and syntactically.
The visions dance before the mind, and mind races to capture the whole which appears and disappears in particles. One wants more!!!
Wonderful!!
God bless you

Either deliberately-- by design, or accidentally-- by mischance, this work tells a great deal about a Master who studied for many years under other Masters. The last stanza especially, to me, is so filled with the quiet contemplation and study required of Student or Master when defining or trying to define a circle, (for example)it's almost surreal.

All the stanzas are that way though. Each filled with a peace and tranquility seldom found. And each filled with unfolding visions, limited only by one's own mind.

I like this, Rich, very much. ^^

Frank :)
