Halloween Dream Attack

Help me ride this mixed up boat of time
Fill my stein with, bubbly bloody wine.
Smash it in the rocky ocean blue
Adding crab legs from my creaky shoe.
God, keep me away from that haunting in my mind.

Wash my bones in suds and drip them dry.
Hang them on a witches broom close by.
Fly them in the howling winds
To blow the secrets off my sins.
Keep them safe until the day I die.

Halloween sneaks and rides my back
With witches, cats and spooky ghouls in black.
Snakes and snails and slimy things
Quiver, “When the black cat sings!”
Will me to wake from this frightful dream attack.

“OR WAS IT A DREAM?”

Mae - great dream, or was it a dream? I notice you have used a limerick rhyme pattern which adds very nicely to rhythm and tone. I love those bones that are hung to dry, in fact that whole stanza is wonderful. Yes, I am ready for pumpkin pie and hot apple cider, tricks and treats too - your poem put me in the mood. June
