A Drop Of Life
by Rodger Moyer (Age: 56)
copyright 12-09-2009

Age Rating: 13 to 127

A drop of life, no more a speck
Swims upstream to survive
Shallow at first, then drenched in birth
On earth, it comes alive

In the pool of life it wakes
And fights to finds it’s way
Not knowing much, but life is such
It grows a bit each day

Near helpless in the early years
But making it’s own space
It quickly yearns for bigger ponds
To swim the human race

Soon mingling with the many drops
That made their way down stream
It waits in pools, of thoughts and schools
To one day chase a dream

And if it’s wise, the waters rise
Not much can hold it back
And once it rises to the top
It stands out from the pack

Down rivers wide, from side to side
At times upon a raft
Adjusting to and flowing through
The rapids narrow path

As waters calm and widen out
An ocean comes in view
Along the way it stopped to play
And shed a tear or two

In seas of green, it floats serene
To live a slower pace
It’s traveled many miles and days
Arriving at this place

As darkness falls the moon recalls
What all has come to pass
And in amidst the universe
The drop is free at last

This poem was very interesting; the story telling style was very well presented. Additionally, I'm always impressed with how well all of the lines of your poems flow into the next. Great work!

The sound bends the mind eye, a verse kept pure, gathers up both image and thought, while allowing the ear to be pleased, well done, enjoyed a great deal.. Walt

That is the most beautiful poem I have read ever!
I just simply love it. You know how to write, a true poet. I must put you down as a favorite on this poem. Thank you so much for making my day.
Mae
