in the dark of the water
by the drying stream
every gift is the last
to be

come and hold me
kiss my feet
pray for the souls
lost to the street

..and the days are mixed
love and wine
ripped the warning signs
just a mind lost to life

wonder where the years
went with my wife
only travel
mixed in faith

once a dreamer
now just a fate
come to hold
wash eh late

Cannot see
dreamers wait
last to better
taste to time

lover
friends of mine
all is still
last of silent night

held the truth
washed in the light
come to Jesus
stand beside the door

wait for the curtain
not hear no more
soft of seeing
romance to real

seal the coffin
mix the steel
all is covered in years
tears are the question

nothing to fear

..and the days are mixed
love and wine
ripped the warning signs
just a mind lost to life

wonder where the years
went with my wife

..and once more in the quiet day
watch the wonder
take the stray
leave him open

hear the tale
all is born to be
a tide on a love sea
saved and honored

soul set free I am the wind
left by your door
open up your heart
let us roam once more

to the wine and roses
guns of fate
never is the story old
nor is it too late

touched her fingers
drew lines in her hair
placed my lips on hers
we were just there

on the road of never end
lover to forever
forever friends

.. and I stopped beside the water
held the day
prayed for ever after
accepted as the angels play

never had perfection
just passed time
love is in heart
spread in time

Poetic, beautifully woven, refreshingly flowing, and profound with life wisdom. I like your random longings and warm memories interjected in, but I specially loved the lines: "All covered in years, tears are the question" and "Never had perfection, just passed time; love is in the heart, spread in time." Life in a capsule.

seal the coffin
mix the steel
all is covered in years
tears are the question

subtle, intriguing images dancing in mind, diction leaving marks on every pause, mind racing back in time, inundated with unseen tears, writhing soul, and the stifled voice reach me to baffle, amuse, ponder, and finally admire the art of the master.

Wonderful!
God bless you

Hello Walter, Your beautiful poem brought out much emotion in me as I read each verse. I really connected the loss of my wife, just over three years ago, to the message. Time is so precious and love is so powerful, but kept in the heart, it comes out in your beautiful poetry. Thank you for sharing and I wish you a very happy new year!
Regards, Rodger

Walter,
Loving past memories to carry to the new year.
So nicely put and from the blowing soul placed and the door of someone you thought a lot of. So romantic as poets are and so full of deepness.
I enjoyed reading this. Happy New Year.
Mae

Hello Walter,
Under the light of the clearest blue sky
Every gift is the first
To be
Friends from near and far
Toast your dreams tonight

Happy New Year,
Susan
