I looked in the paper to see last night
If I was in the obituaries’ sight
I found not my name in that classified
Therefore; I guess that I haven’t died

The rest of my life starts living today
Today is the first day I am OK
The rest of my life goes on till I die
Leaving the last day of life passing by

I say to the family; husband or wife
Today is the first of the rest of my life
I wake every morning, my thanks to give
Today is the first of my life to live

How content the thought as today I feel
The rest of my life is going to be real
With God as my witness here’s what I say
“The rest of my life starts living today”

I really liked how you started it off the poem, Therefore; I guess I haven't died, very fun and interesting to read and it made me smile. Life is worth living but sometimes it takes us a while to start. Great poem.

Mae - another absolutely delightful poem from your pen. Love the way you are so upbeat, funny, and full of life, living each day as though it were not the last, but the first, as it should be for all of us. Thanks for the smiles... June

This is a perfect example of how a writer can take an old, tired, worn-out cliche, and with a with a little thought turn that cliche into an inspirational adventure for the reader. Beguilement, first and foremost. Then a continued journey, offering interest even intrigue, until we're done and seemed unconscious of where you'd taken us. Excellent, this. ^_^
