Respite of Lies

Can I…?
Should I…?
Do I…?
Why love him?

Is it a sin to try it again?
If he understands,
Should I stretch out my hand?

Ah, it’s so different from before
There’s no surprise nor excitement
All I feel is a veil of dread over a cloak of fear

I’ve been trying not to let him know
I wanted nothing more than to let it go
But the thoughts keep coming back
Breathing life into the memories I don’t lack

Ah, somehow I know it’s true
The painful truth is reflected in all I do
This simple fact is all that remains
Yes, yes, I really do
I can’t help but love you

Can I…?
Should I…?
Do I…?
Why love him?

The lovers' lament? But offered with some depths not often seen that take it well beyond the almost cliche of the agonies of Love's own questions.

You have opened a tremendous wellspring of talented offerings, Leigh. They are recognized.

Frank :)
