Dad’s Gift of Love

Daddy my dear dad
You passed away so quick
It was hard, the life you had
Because you were so sick

I remember one rainy night
In my thoughts as was written
You had tucked out of sight
A wet cold crying kitten

Found upon a stormy night
As you were walking home
You gave it to me upon sight
So I wouldn’t feel alone

Your life of love you gave
From years of past gone by
You took them to the grave
Tears swell throughout my eye

I can’t help it, I just cry

My Gift to my father who rests peacefully now and has gone to a better place. Happy father's day.

I read the last line again and again. It was very sweet with emotion bursting out of each line.
But that last line, "I can't help it, I just cry"
I think that would strike a chord with anyone. We've all been there, where we just can't help it anymore.
Thank you for sharing. Great work I think.

This poem was very beautiful. Though losing a loved one, especially a parent, is something undeniably painful, it's very true that they should never be forgotten. It's also important to remember the 'Gift of Love' that only parents give to their children.

Excellent work!
