If I was to Die Tomorrow

If I Was to Die Tomorrow....
by M.E.(Bunny) Eastveld

If I was to die tomorrow... I think I could accept it gracefully. I've been fortunate in this life, More fortunate than many... less so than some.
When I was young, I dreamed of only a few things that I really wanted,
a horse,
to go to New Zealand and Australia.... To love and be loved.
I love, now, and am loved in return. It's mature, comfortable, soothing.... Warm. Not the flash of youth, but something better. More substantial, and real, a lover and best friend.

If I was to die tomorrow I'd have few regrets... I've seen the sunset on the Tasman Sea... I've lived life fully and kept my sense of humor.
I'm older and wiser, but not so wise as all that... because I still dream. But I know now that dreams are the result of blood, sweat and tears.
I have projects to complete, people to make amends with, to love and cherish, still... I'm really too busy right now, to die, but...
I have lived my dreams... my sorrows and partings.... my hopes and wishes, and so:
If I was to die tomorrow... would I miss the earthly delights? It depends on what is to follow... after this life.
If it is the void of the atheists, what matter? If it is the burning in hellfire, will I feel it? If it is the paradise of the christians,
will I miss my
pets? I hope it is just an end. No sorrow, no pain, no consciousness, nothing.
If I was to die tomorrow...
What would become of my friends, family, lover...
all that I hold dear?
I can't bear to think of what will
or could happen to them... But, I won't know...
Or will I?

This is great. You seem to have lived a great life and reading some of your work brings back memories of my childhood on the farm in Nebraska. Thank you for your thoughts even though you had them many years ago, they still hold truth and they are wonderful to read, Anthony

Bunny this poem was beautiful. It makes you think and I like that.

Hey girl, I feel much the same. Only, I've done extensive research on the Bible and have noticed a buried teaching that there will be a paradise, on earth. And that until the great resurrection, we are in fact... unconscious. Neat, eh? I enjoyed this trip into your thoughts. :)

Your poem express I think how most people feel about life and death.

In light of all your recent experiences it is nice to see you write so elquently about your life experiences. Well done!

Bunny: just posted a comment. Where did it go?

Hi Bunny: I couldn't have said it better. I feel exactly the same way!! I've lived even longer than you have. I'm sad to think that I've reached this "old age" and haven't become an "expert" on ANYTHING!! (too late?) Death is the last greatest mystery.....I don't believe in hell (how preposterous)....I think we just exist on another plane. Maybe go to another planet.
See you on Mars :)

It is a wonderful thing to realize so many dreams and to have loved and been loved. Your photographs show appreciation of beauty, your horses know you care for them greatly and your family is getting to know you better through your writing.
Heavy thoughts, but they must be thought.

A good, reflective poem, have you read my essay on my death and things I want to do before I do die?
