Freedom is Horses
by M.E. (Bunny) Eastveld (Age: 54)
copyright 11-15-2001

Age Rating: 13 to 127

To be free
is my goal.
Free of pain,
hardship, turmoil.

To be able to walk properly
and normally
not to gimp about
and not be uncomfortable.

Is this real?
I think it will be
it takes tincture of time
to heal many things.

Freedom:
on the back of a horse
running full out
wind ruffling my hair,

Heart beating rapidly
for the sheer joy of moving
easily, effortlessly
and fast.

Breath comes in short gasps..
It's work to ride..
But I love this work,
As does my big guy, my pal,
Justin.

Justin is the key to my healing,
of mind, body and spirit.
Horses are magical beings..
Entrusted to us by a generous God
Not to misuse, or abuse
But to enjoy and keep safe from harm.

Beatiful poem!! You are so right horses are amazing, just looking at them makes you feel free!My S.S. teacher keeps bugging us about the meaning of freedom, I wonder how he'll react to your answer!! lol ^-^

PS. I'll comment on your story as soon as i finish reading it, it's LONG!!! How did you find the time to write it!?

Hi Bunny!

I'm reading this after the fact as I know you are back riding now. Hope you are enjoying being back in the saddle again.

Actually, Bob, Justin is my horse. Les is the lucky guy! Tincture of time will be available shortly in bottled form, just wait for it...Bunny

Ah, Bunny... Tincture of Time. I love it. Know where I can get a small bottle? Nice job, girlfriend, Justin is a lucky guy.

Thank you for your kind comments. Jackie, I hope you can get back up soon! (It really does help to speed healing - especially of the depressive thoughts one gets while spudding out between physio treatments). Betty, thanks..(if not for you I'd probably not be aware that horses could be enjoyed by the hour). Robert: why couldn't you ride now? Our oldest Riding club member is turning 81 in Dec (our youngest is 6). Take a trip to the LB Ranch website...www.lbranch.net, and check out my buddy, Justin and the gang. Kay Lee, thank you..nothing in this world like horses! And, David..I wish you well too...thanks for commenting..you might enjoy a trip to our ranchsite, too. Bunny

Wonderful feeling! I wish you healing, and am glad you have Justin to help! Your writing makes me nostalgic, I can smell leather and feel the heat of the big body beneath the saddle, reins in hand, feeling on top of the world even if it is really only about 4 feet above the ground. Glad to see you writing again, Big Sis Betty

Oh yes, I can feel this, there is no freedom
like a horse.

Nice write, Bunny. I'm calling the doc daily to see when I can ride again. I can't wait to get on that mare and work her. Jackie
