Seasons

Icy breezes pierce the earth, glaciate with frozen dearth

Sharpened spikes of frigid water, hang like daggers at the slaughter

Crispy layers of frozen dew, lay on field and hedge anew

Winter marches with great sway, little standing in its way

Sudden flash of colours cloak, rising sap in hearts of oak

Lambs who frolic with elation, unaware of expectation

Birds review their bygone dwelling, for the hatchlings future heading

The world awakens from its strife, and fills the term with brand new life

Flowers show off with great splendor, Trees stand tall with mighty grandeur

Children laughing at their fun, never stop till setting sun

Hedgerows flower with great pride, all that nature can provide

Sun ourselves with warm delight. Long days melt to balmy night.

Ripened fruit with ripened seeds, store for winter feeding needs

Leaves of gold and amber stain, fall away till none remain

Days get shorter, nights get long, fledglings fly with autumn song

Seeds now fall to waiting plain, begin the cycle once again
