I Love the Lonely
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 11-17-2001

Age Rating: 1 to 127

I Love the Lonely

I love the Lonely,
we’ve so much that we can share;
hiding in the silent shadows,
wondering when someone will care.

I love the Empty,
we’re all waiting to be filled;
seeking solace midst the apathy,
when someone’s kind we’re thrilled.

I love the Sorry,
we’re all wishing we could change;
pondering why we were rejected,
just what could we rearrange?

I love the Different,
acceptance we might never find;
existing without malice,
although uniqueness pains our minds.

I love the Hated,
contemplating what we did;
vying for the warmth denied us,
like confused, cold little kids.

I love the Meek Ones,
although the strong ones will survive;
wrestling just to keep the basics,
trying to make it through alive.

I love the Searchers,
we’re refusing to give in;
striving to find always where
the World leaves off and life begins.

I love the Lonely,
we can change society;
loving lost souls who surround us,
let’s restore humanity.

Special people will hopefully find one another and be happier than most, knowing how emptiness feels they will treasure their unique qualities and respect one another....

Sounds like a poem for the rest of us, Lyle. The message was crisp and clear; power-mongers and bullies- we're on to you.

A nice poem Lyle, I like the content and agree with Jackie that many have these feelings at one time or another.
