H ow they landed at Plymouth rock
A nd the weather gave them quite a shock
N othing prepared them for such grim times
K ernels of corn, little to eat
S haring what they had
G iving to the local people
I ndian and white side by side
V ery close to starvation
I nner strength helping to survive
N ow we celebrate their bravery
G ood to give Thanks to God.

One nation under God comes to mind when reading this. I think my grandson Takota Gray Eagle 2/15/08 would enjoy this poem just as much as my other grandkids...French, Irish...multi variety. Being thankful is universal.
It is my belief that throughout history, conquered races/countries were either assimilated or destroyed. Probably unnecessarily so, however, I get a tad touchy when some 16 year old aboriginal from North America tells me "he" was here first. No, I was here before him. I'm a native Canadian, born here, but without the benefits of "Treaty status". I think you've gone and opened another can of worms! Buns
LOL, Robert, you break me up; yet it is true, we invaded their country and now they look for compensation. I always looked at them with admiration in the cowboy movies, each tribe seemed to have a special talent, for intstance today we have the steel workers who are really outstanding, fearless of heights. If we can share and care, we all benefit.
