Chocolate Salad Dressing Cake
by Deborah Dessaint
copyright 05-15-2001

Age Rating: 7 to 127

This is a recipe that was popular in the '50s and is super convenient since the salad dressing replaces the eggs and oil.

2 C. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
5 T. powdered cocoa
1 C. sugar
1 C. Salad Dressing (such as Miracle Whip, do not use light or fat-free versions)
1 C. Water
1 tsp. Vanilla extract

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Add salad dressing, water and vanilla. Mix and beat well. Pour batter into two greased and floured layer pans or one 9 X 11 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 - 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Hi,

This sounds like a recipe I use to make as a teen for the family dessert. I remember it being simple and using salad dressing. If its the same one (and I'm sure it is), I remember it being very moist and delicious. I'll have to try this one day .... and see if its as I remember. :0)
