Someone Empty
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 12-05-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

I must find someone empty
a vacuum to be filled;
a void as black and cold as mine -
whose senses have been killed.

They must be at their wit’s end
to share the fear I know;
and never can they pretend -
I’m sick of letting go.

I must find someone desperate
who’s given up and quit -
a victim who could not care less -
at the bottom of their pit.

Someone beyond sad, forlorn
who’s given up all hope -
a one like me, who few would mourn
whose life’s a futile joke.

In vain, I seek that soul mate -
one crying to be held,
to make our common pains abate -
if sorrows we could meld.

I must find someone empty
a hollow, brittle shell -
a spirit low as low can be
who can’t endure this hell.

Wow, I got two-fers! I have to give you and Betty both credit on this one. You wrote the question and she came back with the answer. This is a great write, Lyle. I imagine the one that you're seeking will come along someday. I hope that it's soon. Jackie

You must find someone loving, who can give you cause to live
You must find someone giving who returns the love you give
You must find someone hopeful, who will give you joy to share
You must find someone worthwhile to make you want to care.
Another good write!
